Sri Lanka vs England, 3rd Test, Day 4

England beat Sri Lanka by 42 runs after Tea on fourth day to win the third Test, and hence the series 3-0. But the achievement wasn't without a couple of hiccups on a chastening day for the visitors.

Kusal Mendis and Roshen Silva out up 100 runs for the fifth wicket, making up for Lakshan Sandakan's early wicket by Jack Leach.

Kusal Mendis made a breathtaking 86, as Roshen Silva gave him good company at the other end.

Jack Leach ran Kusal Mendis out in the tenth over after Tea, opening the floodgates. But there was more awaiting England.

Malinda Pushpakumara survived helmet blows and savagely spinning deliveries to make a whirlwind 42 not out off 40 balls. Sri Lanka put a 58-run stand for the last wicket to frustrate England.

England recorded their first whitewash away from home since 1962-63. And courtesy this result, they also became the third team behind Australia and India to whitewash Sri Lanka at home.
