After Prithvi Shaw was dismissed for a duck on debut, Sanju Samson and Shikhar Dhawan scored 51 for the second wicket to get India going.

Dhawan made 46 and built India's innings with Suryakumar Yadav with a stand of 62.

Suryakumar Yadav scored a half-century but India were kept to a par score of 164 for 5.

Dushmantha Chameera and Wanindu Hasaranga picked up two wickets each.

India got off to a shaky start with the ball but pulled things back and reduced Sri Lanka to 55 for 3 in nine overs.

Asalanka struck 44 but fell in the 16th over as Sri Lanka's chase fell apart.

Bhuvneshwar bagged four wickets as India sealed an easy 38-run win.
