South Africa are assured of the Number 1 spot in the ICC ODI rankings after New Zealand lost the fourth ODI to Australia at Adelaide. New Zealand were the only team who had a chance to topple the Proteas from their perch before the cut-off date of April 1. Even if the Blackcaps win the last ODI against Australia and then beat India 5-0 at home they would still fall short of South Africa's current rating of 125. On the current schedule of ODIs, no other side has a chance to overtake South Africa and with South Africa themselves not playing any games before April 1, they've assured themselves of a USD 175,000 bonus along with the ICC ODI championship shield. Meanwhile, Australia who are currently second on the rankings, can cement their position as runner-up if they beat the Kiwis on Friday but will still trail South Africa by a fraction of a point. Alternatively, should Australia lose on Friday, both India and New Zealand have the opportunity to grab the No.2 spot depending on the outcome of their ODI series. The runner-up will receive USD 75,000.ICC ODI Championship table: 1. South Africa (125), 2. Australia (124), 3. India (120), 4. New Zealand (114), 5. Pakistan (111), 6. England (108), 7. Sri Lanka (105), 8. West Indies (91), 9. Bangladesh (46), 10. Zimbabwe (23), 11. Ireland (19), 12. Kenya (0).
