Marsh injury adds to SRH's dilemma in more ways than one

David Warner, Jonny Bairstow and Rashid Khan are certain starters. So, who's the fourth overseas player in the Sunrisers Hyderabad XI? Ever since Bairstow forged a formidable opening partnership with Warner, the pre-match chatter for any contest involving SRH has revolved around that question over the fourth overseas player.

Going into this new season, three players were in contention for that one slot for SRH's opening contest against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Fabian Allen and Billy Stanlake didn't stand a chance as all three - Kane Williamson, Mohammad Nabi and Mitchell Marsh - had a case for their inclusion. Considering the fact that SRH had to include at least two new young players in their XI from the ones they purchased in the auction, there was a case for Williamson to be their number three batsman which would have in turn pushed Manish Pandey and Vijay Shankar further down the order to strengthen the department.

Williamson also can anchor an innings, a facet which is already proving to be necessary in run chases as seen so far in the tournament. And then there is Nabi. Apart from being an experienced campaigner, he has also been in the groove recently after representing St Lucia Zouks in the CPL. He has played a lot of cricket in the UAE, which many believed would give him an edge over his other two competitors. Having played only 13 times in three seasons for SRH, Nabi's time had finally seemed to have arrived.
