New Zealand seal series 2-0

Tom Latham stays on and takes his team over the line with a boundary. He finishes unbeaten on 110 off 108, while Devon Conway's impressive 72 off 93 was also crucial for the home side as Bangladesh put on a much improved batting performance.

At the halfway stage, Bangladesh would've given themselves a shot at history - of their first-ever win on New Zealand soil, and were backed up by the bowlers as they wiped out the top three by the 11th over. But a 113-run fourth-wicket stand and some costly fumbles in the field from Bangladesh ensured they finished second best on the day. The worrying aspect of this defeat is that Mustafizur Rahman walked off with an injury in the middle of an over, which Soumya Sarkar completed with his gentle medium pace. It remains to be seen if he will be fit for the last game on March 26. Bangladesh will be bitterly disappointed for not having consolidated on their good position, but should still be chuffed with the effort they put in tonight.

Late, late twist?

Neesham has holed out here. He went for a big hit against a Mustafizur full ball, but couldn't clear Soumya Sarkar at long on. He falls for 30 off 34... can Bangladesh pull off a miraculous comeback here? New Zealand 242/5 in 45.3 overs.

Latham shifts the pressure to Bangladesh

In the midst of all the dropped catches, Tom Latham has smashed four boundaries in a Taskin Ahmed over to bring down the asking rate to six from seven. This game is switftly slipping away from Bangladesh.

Pressure getting to Bangladesh?

These have been incredible few overs, with Bangladesh getting really close to a breakthrough but not really getting them. After Mushfiqur dropped Neesham, Mahedi Hasan has now put down Tom Latham off his own bowling. Costly, costle errors these.

Costly error from Mushfiqur!

What have you done, Mushfiqur? Jimmy Neesham nicks one off Taskin Ahmed and this should've been a simple catch to Mushfiqur's left but he's spilled it. Has he just put down series parity? We'll have to wait and watch to find out...

Conway departs!

Oh what a coincidence. Like Tamim in the first innings, the well-set batsman here for NZ - Devon Conway - is run out against the run of play for 72. And it was Tamim who effected the run out with a direct hit. Is this the opening Bangladesh were looking for? Or can Jimmy Neesham recover from the first-innings treatment he got from Bangladesh batsmen and do some damage of his own? New Zealand 166/4 in 33.4 overs

Conway, Latham carry NZ forward

It's been a good fourth-wicket stand, build on the edifice of strong spin play from both the batsmen. Interestingly, New Zealand have reached the exact same score as Bangladesh (107) albeit having lost one extra wicket. Even then, they are slowly starting to regain control of the chase via the two well-set batsmen.

NZ lose their third

Will Young saw the third man getting pushed back, and aimed for an easy single. But his cheeky attempt to come across the stumps and scoop the ball in that direction left him exposed. His stride was too long and the ball spun enough to hit the stumps. Bangladesh on top here - NZ 53/3 in 10.5 overs.

Henry Nicholls departs

Maiden ODI wicket for off-spinner Mahedi Hasan as he gets a ball drift in and breach Nicholls's defence, who attempted a wild swipe on the leg side. The half-centurion from the first ODI departs, to give Bangladesh a spring to their step. New Zealand 43/2 in 8.3 overs

Mustafizur makes a big breakthrough

The dangerous, in-form Martin Guptill is GONE! Superb change of pace from Mustafizur, something the New Zealand opener didn't see coming. He saw the ball on a leg stump length and looked to just flick it away, but the subtle change in pace resulted in a leading edge that Mustafizur pouched with ease. New Zealand 28/1 in 5 overs.

Bangladesh finish with 271/6

That's 88 runs off the last 10 overs thanks to Mithun's fantastic cameo worth 73 runs. What a response after being bundled out for 131 in the series opener. Tamim was all class, carefully laying the foundation - brick by brick - for his team's progress. He found allies along the way, until Mithun arrived as the true heir to the baton. He didn't just take on the responsibility seamlessly, but also elevated Bangladesh to another pedestal with his confident strokemaking. Can they level the series here?

Mithun blazes away

This is top-class from the No.5 batsman. Just when you thought Mushfiqur's dismissal would sully Bangladesh's batting effort until that point, but up stepped Mithun, grabbing the baton with both hands and heading off on a very good final sprint. He's taken on every bowler Latham has thrown his way, particularly Neesham, who conceded 19 runs in the 45th over.

Mushfiqur key for Bangladesh hopes

Interesting batting from the wicketkeeper. Tom Latham brought back his top-dog Trent Boult, and Mushfiqur threw caution to the wind. He even pulled off a pre-meditated scoop to the fine leg fence. A 10-run 38th over - off the NZ's best bowler - will hold Bangladesh in good stead for a strong finish.

Tamim GOES!

Neat footwork from Jimmy Neesham ends the Bangladesh captain's superb innings here. Mushfiqur called for a quick single after dropping the ball inside the crease. Tamim responded and ran but Neesham was quick and managed to kick the ball onto the stumps, catching Tamim well short of his crease. Unfortunate end to an otherwise top-class innings as he walks back for 78. Bangladesh 133/2 in 30.2 overs

Bangladesh: 10 overs 26/1 | 20 overs 84/1 | 30 overs 133/2

FIFTY for Tamim Iqbal

That's the Bangladesh skipper's 50th ODI half-century - and sixth against New Zealand. He has been phenomenal today after having watching his side crumble for 131 in the series opener. He's taken it upon himself to see out the threat of New Zealand's new-ball bowlers, target the second change options like James Neesham, and even toy with Tom Latham's field placements for Santner. Top class innings... but with a lot more to do.

Mitchell Santner breaks through!

Oh Soumya! Just when he was starting to open up, free his arms and get confident in the middle, he has been sent packing. Sarkar was comfortable enough to start taking risks and on this occasion it backfired. He gave Santner a pre-meditated charge down the track, which alerted the left-arm spinner to bowl down the leg side. Sarkar chased the line but couldn't get bat to ball, and was stranded in the middle of nowhere while Tom Latham whipped off the bails. Bangladesh 85/2 in 20 overs

Bangladesh : 26/1 in 10 overs | 84/1 in 20 overs

Tamim Iqbal and Soumya Sarkar have done exceedingly well here to slowly, but steadily build Bangladesh's innings here. It's been the need of the hour for the visitors, and they've got two senior batsmen of theirs putting their hands up and heads down to pull it off. If Bangladesh can keep this up and push even further, a total in the range of 250 should be gettable.

A Jamieson blinder... almost!

Controversy there! Kyle Jamieson takes a blinder off his own bowling - the 6 foot 8 inches bowler getting down quickly in his follow through and taking a low catch after Tamim drove the ball back. He looked in control as he grabbed the ball and when he fell over, the footage showed the ball touching the ground, even as he held onto it. The third umpire reckoned he hadn't gained full control of the take when that happened and ruled in Tamim's favour. Jamieson is clearly not convinced or happy with that outcome, but the Bangladesh skipper survives.
