Chennai Super Kings have signed Barbadian seamer Dominic Drakes as an injury replacement for the remainder of IPL 2021. Drakes replaces Sam Curran who was ruled out with lower-back injury.

Drakes was already in the IPL bubble, having travelled to the UAE as a net bowler for one of the franchises.
The 23-year-old left-arm seamer, son of former West Indies cricketer Vasbert, was one of the stars of the St. Kitts & Nevis Patriots side that recently clinched the Caribbean Premier League 2021 title. He finished with 16 wickets in the tournament - joint fourth-highest in the league.
