Moody happy not to tinker at the top despite Williamson's woeful form

Kane Williamson's barren run in IPL 2022 continues. Against Kolkata Knight Riders on Saturday (May 14), the Sunrisers Hyderabad captain scored 9 off 17 balls while opening the batting and his inability to get off the blocks quickly in the 178 run-chase brought upon SRH their fifth defeat on the bounce.

SRH have hit the fewest boundaries inside the PowerPlay this season and that dry spell continued. Against KKR in Pune, they hit only four boundaries in the first six overs, three of them coming off the bat of Abhishek Sharma.

With Williamson going through one of his worst ever seasons, SRH have other options to partner Sharma at the top -- Aiden Markram and especially Rahul Tripathi, a seasoned IPL opener -- but the franchise has continued to back Williamson. Head coach Tom Moody said that they weren't willing to change things that were working, a la the middle order, to set right what wasn't.
