Rangpur Riders Shakib al Hasan is all set to miss remaining first-phase matches of Bangladesh Premier League, scheduled in Dhaka, as he is leaving for Singapore on Sunday (January 21) to have an eye check-up.

A top official of Riders confirmed the development to Cricbuzz adding that they are expecting him to be available from the Sylhet phase, subject to his eye status.

"He (Shakib) is leaving for Sylhet today and we are expecting him to be available during the Sylhet phase if he recovers from his eye problem. Let's hope for the best but if that is not the case we have to play with our available resources," Ishtiaque Sadeque, Riders chief executive officer, told Cricbuzz.

Shakib scored just two runs against Fortune Barisal before was bowled by Khaled Ahmed in their opening game of the ongoing BPL but showcased his bowling prowess by claiming 2 wickets for 16 runs in four overs.

Riders captain Nurul Hasan admitted in front of the press that he was struggling with his eyes, following their five-wicket defeat to Fortune Barisal at SBNS.

"He (Shakib) has been struggling with eyesight problem for sometimes now. I think he has been in touch with the doctors regularly. The doctors only could say in what stage the problem is now," said Nurul.
