Former Bangladesh skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto has not retained his place in the T20I squad, as Bangladesh Cricket Board announced a 16-member squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka.

Shanto's form in the shorter format has been matter of discussion, in the recent past. It forced the left-hander to leave T20I captaincy earlier, in order to focus on his T20 batting.
All-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin has returned to the T20I squad after a gap of one-year. The other returnees are Taskin Ahmed, Shoriful Islam, Mustafizur Rahman, and Nasum Ahmed.
Along with Shanto, the other players to have lost their spot in the squad are Soumya Sarkar, Hasan Mahmud, Tanvir Islam, Nahid Rana and Khaled Ahmed, who were part of the last T20I squad against Pakistan.
