After an exceptional display by Zimbabwe in the first ODI, New Zealand struck back with vengeance to square the series in the previous ODI. Both teams now have an equal chance of clinching the series, a position that Zimbabwe usually don't find themselves in. New Zealand received their wake-up call when they lost the first game and one can expect them to put up a similar performance to seal the series.

Zimbabwe, who had put up a phenomenal batting performance in the first match, faltered miserably in the second. If they have to put up a tough fight against the Kiwis, they need to come up with something spectacular. Also, special attention needs to be given to their fielding, which has been very lackluster.

Let's find out what happens at the toss...

Zimbabwe must be disappointed. They had a good chance of sealing the series today but have missed it. They had pulled back things nicely after dismissing the dangerous Kane Williamson on 90 but allowed Neesham and Nathan McCullum to run free in the last few overs and get to 273. These last few runs cost them while batting, especially as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals.

New Zealand have really turned around things after putting up a dismal bowling show in the first match.

Zimbabwe captain Elton Chigumbura won the toss (sixth time in a row) and opted to field. For New Zealand, James Neesham and Ben Wheeler came in. Ross Taylor, who suffered a groin injury while training was replaced by Neesham while Wheeler took Matt Henry's place.

Teams:

Zimbabwe (Playing XI): Hamilton Masakadza, Chamu Chibhabha, Craig Ervine, Regis Chakabva(w), Elton Chigumbura(c), Sean Williams, Sikandar Raza, Graeme Cremer, John Nyumbu, Tinashe Panyangara, Neville Madziva

New Zealand (Playing XI): Martin Guptill, Tom Latham, Kane Williamson(c), Grant Elliott, Colin Munro, James Neesham, Luke Ronchi(w), Nathan McCullum, Ben Wheeler, Ish Sodhi, Mitchell McClenaghan

New Zealand got off to a steady start with openers Martin Guptill and Tom Latham taking their time to settle on the wicket. Zimbabwe players could not create any chances at the visitors scored runs at a slow rate.

John Nyumbu finally gave Zimbabwe the much needed breakthrough by dismissing Tom Latham on the final ball of the tenth over. Although New Zealand's scoring rate was slow, a wicket has certainly broken the momentum the openers had got them into. Latham came down the track to lift the ball over mid-wicket but dragged it to mid-on instead, where Cremer dived to his left and held onto a fantastic take.

Martin Guptill was dropped on 36 by the keeper Regis Chakabva off John Nyumbu. Guptill went for the sweep but the ball brushed the bottom part of his glove and hit Chakabva's thigh instead. Hopefully, he can make that count and score big.
