An intriguing fourth day of play awaits us at Old Trafford. Much of the talk yesterday surrounded England's surprise decision to not enforce the follow on. We can categorically state that they haven't declared overnight either. So Joe Root and Alastair Cook will attempt to add to the 489 run lead as quickly as possible and then give Pakistan close to two full days to win/save the Test match.

There's no sight of rain today. Should be a cracking day of Test match.
How much more do England need? It is certain now that the they are playing more for time than runs now. The lead has crossed 500 and Alastair Cook courtesy a sweetly-timed four through covers has recorded his fastest 50 in the format.
We are into the fourth day but the Old Trafford track looks as good as it was on Day 1. It was just Pakistan, who didn't bat well in their first innings. England will want the surface to deteriorate faster.
