An all-round show from Ben Stokes (4 for 26 and 85) helped England defy an upbeat Bangladesh and snatch away the control of the proceedings on Day 3 of the Chittagong Test. Stokes's three swift wickets in the morning session helped the visitors bundle out Bangladesh for just 248, after they had 221 for 5 on the board at stumps on the previous day. He then walked out to bat with his side reeling on 46 for 4 and added a match-turning 127-run partnership for the sixth wicket with Jonny Bairstow. Shakib-al-Hasan picked up his 150th Test wicket and claimed a five-wicket haul but England finished the day as the happier side, reaching 228 for 8 at stumps. Even if England fail to add to this total in the morning session tomorrow, they might already have enough on the board to deny Bangladesh a successful fourth-innings run-chase.

Can Bangladesh pull off the unthinkable tomorrow? Fascinating day's play coming up. That's all for now! Ciao.

Not quite the debut with the bat for the young Mehedi Hasan. Ben Stokes, bowling with the old ball, got it to reverse, and rapped Hasan on the pad in front of the stumps. The batsman had shuffled across the off-stump, making the decision easy for the umpire even as the ball was drifting into the right-hander. Hasan consulted his partner and reviewed but in vain as the HawkEye suggested ball would've crashed onto the leg stump. Bangladesh in a real slide here, 239 for 8.
