Australia edged ahead of South Africa at close play on Day 2 of the Day-Night Adelaide Test. Usman Khawaja scored his fifth Test century to put 48 ahead of South Africa's first innings total with four wickets still in the bag. Khawaja put on stands worth 137 with Steve Smith (59) and 99 with debutant Peter Handscomb (54). Kyle Abbott was once again the pick of the visitors' bowlers taking 3 for 38 from his 25 overs, showing the kind of fight Faf du Plessis did on the opening day of the contest when he struck an unbeaten 118.
