Bengal deny Pragyan Ojha's Hyderabad return request

Left-arm spinner Pragyan Ojha's quest to move back to his home domestic team - Hyderabad - has been blocked by the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB). Ojha, who made the move from Hyderabad to Bengal before the 2015-16 season, has been denied a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) that will facilitate his transfer.

CAB president Sourav Ganguly stated in no uncertain terms that Ojha will play for Bengal in the upcoming season, despite the bowler's desire to return to Hyderabad.

"Ojha will be playing for us. We have decided not to give him the NOC (no-objection certificate)," Ganguly said in Kolkata on Wednesday (August 30). When Hyderabad were playing in the lower division, we had given him the opportunity to play for us. Now we need him, so he will have to play for us," Ganguly added.

When Ojha made the switch to Bengal, Hyderabad were languishing in Group C of the Ranji Trophy. Their stellar quarterfinal-finish last season, however, has put them in Group A for the next season.
