Australia's blue-chip attack has been dubbed in sections of the local media as the country's "greatest ever". One probably shouldn't take too seriously the glossy tabloids but, still, those type of bold declarations are tough to shake.

After all the pre-series ballyhoo, undoubtedly, there was pressure on Australia's attack, which for the first time comprised the long-awaited 'dream team' trio of Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins. However, in the early stages of the series, offspinner Nathan Lyon had stolen the show ably supported by comeback king Cummins, who is on course to becoming Australia best quick.

There was an expectation on day four that Australia was set to roll England, especially during the ominous night session. However, Australia's much-hyped attack struggled to crack England's determined batting as Starc and Hazlewood underwhelmed - continuing a sluggish series for the spearheads. Starc and Hazlewood were ragged under lights, with the left-armer noticeably wayward despite picking up a couple of wickets.

An anxious Steve Smith, the Australian captain, looked particularly flustered and wasted two reviews in a sign of the game's changing momentum. Suddenly, out of nowhere, Australia had let England back into the game - and series - with the prospect of a humiliating defeat on what loomed as a tantalising finale in Adelaide.
