That's it for MLC action for now. We will be back with more. For now it's bye bye from here.
Glenn Maxwell: We scrapped really hard with the ball, they got off to a beautiful start, Spiceman batted beautifully, got a 100 and walked off. We felt the score was a bit under-par and we backed ourselves to chase it. Not the most clinical but nice to see it was a full team effort to get the job done. (Holland) He has been outstanding whole through the tournament, changed the momentum, couldn't be happier for him. Backing our allrounders and our long batting lineup gets the job done, the way Glenn and Obus finished it off shows their experience and a calm head. Serves me right for breathing easy when we needed 2 off 4, Andre put us under pressure, shows his experience and class. Glad to have got over the line.
Mitch Owen | Player of the Match: It was a lot of fun, loving it. Off the field too and it's a great country, enjoying everything that comes with it. We always had the belief, especially on this wicket, with the wind going that side. We knew it would be tough, but glad to get over the line. (on his front foot pulls) It probably gets me in more trouble, glad that it came off tonight. We are playing with a lot of confidence and freedom.
Jason Holder: It's unfortunate we were a little bit scrappy in terms of fielding. A really good effort from the bowlers, they created a lot of opportunities. (On putting down so many chances) It's tough to pinpoint, it's hard to figure out, I don't know, we just got to be better. At the end of the day, the bowlers are doing a helluva job to create opportunities. As a group, we got to be a lot better in the field. (On retiring Andre Fletcher out) Fletcher played an outstanding innings, let's firstly start there. At the back end, he probably lost a little bit of momentum. We just backed our hitters in Rovman, Russ and myself to come in. Just a strategic plan, I think it could have paid off. We still got some runs in the back end. Having said that, wouldn't take anything away from Fletcher's innings. We played the game as we saw it. Fletcher played outstandingly, he slowed down a bit at the back end, but he still had a really good strike rate, kept the innings going for us. Just unfortunate sometimes, credit must be given to Washington Freedom who bowled well in the middle. Saw some fight from the boys even though we were not at our best in terms of fielding, and saw a lot more energy. It's a hard-fought game.
22:43 Local Time, 03:43 GMT, 09:13 IST: The second-highest successful chase in MLS history and it was a fine game. Mitch Owen started off continuing on his great nick, at one stage he struck four consecutive sixes but Shadley van Schalkwyk castled him to get his side the breakthrough. There were wickets and contributions as the innings continued. Maxwell, Gous with handy knocks and the job was finished by Phillips and Pienaar at the end. Phillips and Pienaar added 60 unbroken to take their side home off the last ball. LAKR were made to pay for their lapses in the field and those dropped catches cost them dearly. Stay tuned for the post-match stuff...
Russell to Phillips, 1 run, dropped by Holder at mid-on. WF win a thriller. Russell is on the ground in disbelief. And a couple of the LAKR fielders too are in disbelief. A low full-toss on the stumps, Phillips hammers it hard, flies to Holder at mid-on who is close-in, drops it and the ball lobs behind him, turns around and has a go at the rebound, he dives with an outstretched right hand to grab it, doesn't stick. Had it done, we would have had a Super Over. What a finish. Had Holder been right back at mid-on, he could have had an easier chance
Last ball and just one needed. Everyone inside the ring.
19.4 - UltraEdge shows a spike. Had LAKR reviewed, Pienaar was out.
Russell to Pienaar, 1 run, scores level. Low full-toss outside off, driven to Ali Khan at cover, he slips as he fields and throws off-balance, they sneak a quick single. Ali Khan stays on the ground
Russell to Pienaar, no run, three dots in a row. Full and swings away a little from outside off, Pienaar makes room outside the leg-stump and can't reach out to lay bat on ball on the loft, it's inside the tramline and rightly not called a wide. Hang on - UltraEdge shows a spike. Had LAKR reviewed, Pienaar was out.
Russell to Pienaar, no run, now the short delivery outside off, one for the over, left alone
Russell to Pienaar, no run, good yorker on the boot, dug out back and Russell acrobatically flings himself to his right to cut it off
Russell to Pienaar, FOUR, that should be the game. Pienaar makes room and gets under this full delivery on leg-stump, lofts clean and wide of extra-cover, right into the gap
Russell to Pienaar, wide, slower-ball and down leg, Pienaar flicks and misses, called a wide
Andre Russell [3.0-0-41-0] is back into the attack
Last over and 7 needed. Russell to bowl it.
Ali Khan to Pienaar, 1 run, yorker length outside off, Pienaar swings this to the mid-on area for one
Ali Khan to Phillips, 1 run, full on off, Phillips gets forward to loft and it's on the bounce to the onrushing deep extra-cover
Ali Khan to Phillips, wide, low full-toss and just wide of the tramline on the off-side, Phillips gets forward to drive and misses, Ali Khan is not happy with the wide call, screams his case to the ump
Ali Khan to Phillips, no run, good diving stop at cover-point by Russell. He dives to his right and cuts off the firm drive, saves runs
