England and 3-0
The current England limited overs side is on a roll. Just playing some fearless and extraordinary cricket. Malan and Buttler put on a masterclass while chasing down what seemed like a sizeable target and hunted down the target with more than 2 overs to spare! Malan finished just one short of what would have been a well deserved ton. South Africa have a lot of soul-searching to do ahead of the ODI series.
Raining fours and sixes
Fours and sixes. It is raining fours and sixes in Cape Town with England cantering to a win. In the 14th over, Malan tonked Ngidi for a six. Buttler and Malan then combined to smack Shamsi for 22 runs in the very next over. England's batting might on full display. South Africa just look lost for ideas.
Malan reigns supreme
Malan continues to reign supreme! The southpaw cracked the sweep, reverse sweep and pull to keep the scorecard ticking over. He is striking at almost 200 at present by playing mostly risk-free cricket. Buttler, who was relatively quiet, then smacked Sipamla over cow corner. England are certainly in the hunt.
Meanwhile, Quinton de Kock missed a run out chance with Malan getting a reprieve. Now that could prove to be costly.
Nortje gets Roy
Just the early breakthrough South Africa were looking for. Roy falls for 16 off 14. Roy was done in by the extra pace of Nortje and played around his front pad to be dismissed lbw.
England 25 for 1
Jordan with the breakthrough
Chris Jordan made the initial incision by dismissing de Kock. The experienced pacer went for change of pace before bowling a length delivery with the South African skipper cracking one to mid off. De Kock would be a disappointed man, as after a cautious start, he had started to open up his shoulders with a few shots off Jofra.
Bavuma's positive intent
After a rather quiet start, Bavuma tried to up the ante with a boundary and a six off Sam Curran. The way the opener slogged Curran over midwicket indicated that the home side was looking to push the scoring rate in the Powerplay on a used deck.
Toss and teams
South Africa have elected to bat. So England would be once again pursuing the target on a used wicket. Sipamla gets a chance for the home side.
South Africa (Playing XI): Temba Bavuma, Quinton de Kock(w/c), Reeza Hendricks, Faf du Plessis, Rassie van der Dussen, Pite van Biljon, George Linde, Tabraiz Shamsi, Anrich Nortje, Lungi Ngidi, Lutho Sipamla
England (Playing XI): Jason Roy, Jos Buttler(w), Dawid Malan, Jonny Bairstow, Ben Stokes, Eoin Morgan(c), Sam Curran, Chris Jordan, Tom Curran, Jofra Archer, Adil Rashid
Prelude
Two matches played. Two lost. South Africa's progress report in the T20I series against England. Barring a few notable performances from du Plessis, Van der Dussen, Tabriaz Shamsi and George Linde, not much has gone right for the struggling home side.
Meanwhile, with a formidable batting unit at their disposal, England have been able to get through tricky situations and overhaul targets. However, Jason Roy's lack of form would be a concern for the visitors. Tom Curran too has struggled to make an impression. Having already wrapped up the series, the Eoin Morgan-led side could experiment by bringing in a few new players for the final T20I.
England also would climb to the top of the T20I rankings if they clean-sweep the series.
