First win for Birmingham Phoenix this season after a couple of losses. On the other hand, first loss for Oval Invincibles after a couple of wins. On a good batting deck, we saw a cracking game with the home team coming out triumphant much to the delight of their passionate fans. On that note, it's time to bring the curtains down on this contest. Tune in tomorrow for the double-header. Until then, goodbye...
Liam Livingstone | Match Hero: Very special, we needed it. They (Oval Invincibles) are a great team and won two in a row, nice to get a win over them and get some momentum going forward. I always back myself and thankfully it came off tonight. I got a good record against Rash (Rashid), just by stepping across and slogging him, I try and get underneath him I know he likes to target the stumps and thankfully, it is my day today. Great win and we got ourselves back into the tournament and hopefully it gives the momentum going forward.
With 61 runs needed off the last 25 balls, the Phoenix had their backs against the wall. That's when their captain stepped up. Livingstone went after Oval Invincibles' trump card - Rashid Khan - by smashing 26 runs off the latter's final set (4 6 6 6 4). Sam Curran bowled 10 balls on the trot and conceded just 13 runs which brought the equation down to 22 needed off the last 10 balls. Livi went after the elder Curran (4 6 6) to release all the pressure. There was some drama with Saqib Mahmood picking back-to-back wickets but Howell held his nerve and hit the winning runs.
21:23 Local Time, 20:23 GMT, 01:53 IST: Liam Livingstone has his arms aloft. A fantastic knock from the captain as Birmingham Phoenix register their first win of this season. Chasing a stiff target, they lost Duckett early to Saqib Mahmood. Will Smeed and Joe Clarke forged a fifty partnership and the former notched up a half-century after a slow start. Rashid Khan took a fantastic catch and then Nathan Sowter cleaned up Smeed to put the home team under a lot of pressure.
Saqib Mahmood to Benny Howell, FOUR, big cheer from the home crowd as Birmingham Phoenix win by 4 wickets. Very full around off and Howell drives it wide of mid-off. The fielder gives the chase but the ball wins the race to the fence

Saqib Mahmood to Mousley, out Lbw!! Mousley has been adjudged lbw and he reviews. Low full toss, the left-hander looks to sweep after shuffling and gets hit on the pad.
