There has been a raft of new arrivals at Trent Bridge in recent weeks as Director of Cricket Mick Newell and Head Coach Peter Moores revamp the Nottinghamshire squad, and the changes have continued with confirmation that batsman Riki Wessels is leaving the club having signed for Worcestershire on a three-year contract.

The 32 year-old endured a difficult 2018 campaign with the bat and with Nottinghamshire signing top order batsmen Ben Duckett, Ben Slater and Joe Clarke in recent weeks, opportunities were always bound to be limited. It is also understood that Wessels has not enjoyed this season and felt a change was necessary. Nottinghamshire released him early from his contract to enable him to move to Worcestershire.

"Leaving Nottinghamshire was a difficult decision to make," said Wessels. "I've spent eight years at Trent Bridge and enjoyed being part of successful teams that challenged for trophies but now is the right time for me to make a change. Worcestershire will provide a new challenge and I'm really looking forward to starting another chapter of my career at a Club that I have a lot of admiration for."
