It was only fitting that the 1000th T20I had a first as well. Bangladesh's first win in the format against India eventually was a straight-forward one. India's inexperienced middle-order was strangulated by Bangladesh's inexperienced spinners before the seasoned campaigners drove home the chase.

Sustained pressure is a term often used with the Indian Test side but isn't even associated with the T20 side. India often saw T20 cricket as an extension to their ODI structure and have already paid the price in the 2016 T20 World Cup. They've far too often over-valued wicket preservation over sustained power-hitting. The side, however, is trying to move on from that ideology and isn't basing selections on reputations.
