Lahiru Kumara, the Sri Lanka pacer, has tested positive for COVID-19 ahead of the team's tour of West Indies, SLC said in a media release on Monday (February 22).

"He was detected during PCR Tests carried out yesterday. (21st February)," stated the release. "Immediately upon identification, Lahiru Kumara has been directed to follow the Government's health protocol laid out on Covid-19. Sri Lanka Cricket will continue with normal operations, adhering to the stipulated Health Protocols."

Sri Lanka's tour of West Indies begins with the white-ball segment, with three T20Is and three ODIs scheduled from March 3 to 14. With Sri Lanka set to depart for the Caribbean shortly, Kumara is unlikely to be part of the white-ball games while there is a possibility of him joining the team ahead of the Test series which begins on March 21, provided he recovers on time.
