Marsh, Pooran upset GT's applecart
IPL 2025 Pulse - Week #10

Mitchell Marsh's maiden IPL ton and a blistering Nicholas Pooran onslaught helped LSG to secure a 33-run win against GT in Ahmedabad on Thursday (May 22). The former belted 117 off 64 balls while his West Indian partner hammered 56 off 27 as LSG ended with a monstrous total of 235/2 in 20 overs. For a change, GT's top-three couldn't score big, although they all got starts. Shahrukh Khan and Sherfane Rutherford kept the chase alive, and at one stage, with 54 needed off 24, GT were on course, but the innings unravelled after the stand was broken. William ORourke was the standout bowler and it's his spell that made the difference. This result spoiled GT's top-two ambitions as things are now not entirely in their control.
Rashid gets a shock welcome
It hasn't been a season to remember for Rashid Khan so far but even then, the Afghanistan star has rarely been hammered from the outset like he was on Thursday. Firstly, it wasn't until the 12th over that the leggie was introduced into the attack, a rarity in itself, and then Marsh went bonkers to blast 25 off the over. These six deliveries arguably swung the pendulum considerably towards LSG in their batting innings and they went into overdrive thereafter.
Siraj breathes fire....and gets burned!
Mohammed Siraj loves to have a word or two, especially when things aren't quite going his way. With LSG's innings hitting top gear, the pacer came on for another spell in the 16th over and he tried to get under Pooran's skin. Pacy hard length, short balls and lots of words were thrown at the West Indian who calmly belted 21 off the over. Fair to say, this battle had only one winner.
LSG's overseas batters make history
For Rishabh Pant and his LSG side, the 2025 season has largely not gone according to their plans. Things may have been far more embarrassing if not for Digvesh Rathi's efforts with the ball. In the batting department, it is their overseas top three that has been a huge positive. During their exceptional batting effort against GT, the combination of Mitchell Marsh, Nicholas Pooran and Aiden Markram
