Following three dull days of cricket, where a total of 10 wickets fell, Day Four provided for some exciting contest. New Zealand declared their innings at 166 for 2 after Zimbabwe were bowled out in their first innings. Chasing a target of 387 to win, Chamu Chibhabha and Tino Mawoyo got the hosts off to a good start with a half century stand. However, they lost three late wickets and were reduced to 58 for 3 at Stumps.
