After suffering a comprehensive defeat in the T20I series, Bangaldesh are back to their favourite format - the ODIs. They completely owned Pakistan and India in the ODI series' after the World Cup and shown the world they cannot be taken lightly. This time too against a mighty giant like South Africa, the hosts will be looking forward to start on a winning note.

South Africa, on the other hand, are without the services of AB de Villiers and Hashim Amla will take over the captaincy duties. Otherwise they are playing most of their team and will offer a tough challenge to the Asian team.

It has been a cloudy day since morning and rain arrived just before toss to delay the start of the game. The South African team left their hotel quite late too but the rain refused to stop. The entire square has been covered as well. Looks like it might be a long delay if the rain does not stop soon.

Imran Tahir picked up the big wicket as he dismissed Shakib Al Hasan on 48. The Bangladeshi all-rounder was looking good, having hit 5 boundaries and had put the hosts on the track. He was their only hope in getting a decent total however he could not stay on. He looked to work the ball on the leg-side but missed and was struck in front of middle and leg.

Stat: Rabada gets his fifth wicket. He now has the best figures for a SA debutant in ODIs. Previous Best: Allan Donald: 5/29 against India.

Well, well, well....It's now Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Mortaza who has to suffer at the hands of the Rampaging Rabada. The young man has taken a five-for. Mortaza went to glance a short ball but got it high on the bat and the keeper dived full length to his left to take a stunning catch.

Ok. Scratch that, we have a new hero!

Rabadahas now the best bowling figures ever in an ODI debut, beating Fidel Edwards (6/22). The youngster has finished on 8-3-16-6.

Kagiso Rabada (8-3-16-6) leads the Proteas off the field. What a performance it has been from the youngster. He first became only the second bowler in ODI history to take a hat-trick on debut.

After persistent rain delayed the start of play, the game was reduced to 40 overs per side. However, the young fast bowler, Rabada, in his second over ripped through the opposition ranks by snaring the wickets of Tamim Iqbal, Litton Das and Mahmuddlah off consecutive deliveries.

Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahm tried to steady the innings, but once they were dismissed, the hosts lost their way. Nasir Hossain looked to shepherd the tail. However, in attempt to look for quick runs, he looked to scoop Chris Morris through fine leg and was castled. The visitors should fancy their chances of chasing down the target with ease.

South Africa lost an early wicket as Hashim Amla departed for just 14. It was the Bangladesh skipper Mashrafe Mortaza, who got the breakthrough. Amla shuffled across and flicked with all his might but ended up playing it straight down the throat of Mahmudullah at fine leg.

Quinton de Kock and Faf du Plessis had put up a solid stand for the second wicket, but it was broken by Nasir Hossain when he dismissed de Kock for a 35. The batsman went for a big drive but was not able to control the shot and hit it straight into the hands of the man at short cover. However, the tourists require less than 100 runs to win now and should back themselves up to get those comfortably.

Despite losing Quinton de Kock, Faf du Plessis and Rilee Rossouw moved along at a nice pace and kept South Africa on track. The duo put up a half-century stand for the third wicket and took on the Bangladeshi bowlers.

South Africa may have lost two wickets but chasing a paltry score of 161 was easy enough for them. Fafdu Plessis and Rilee Rossouw made sure that they got there with nearly 9 overs to spare. Faf was unbeaten on 63, while Rossouw was unbeaten on 45 as the match ended. With it, South Africa have taken 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series.
