India threw the kitchen sink in Perth, but Australia went back and got the bath tub. Despite the result at the WACA, India did a lot of things right - Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were excellent with the bat and Barinder Sran showed a lot of promise with the new ball. Unfortunately, so often MS Dhoni's trump card, spin, turned out to be India's undoing.
And that is the big talking point ahead of the second ODI in Gabba. On a track that is widely expected to play similar to the Perth surface, will India sit out one of Ashwin or Jadeja? Will Ishant Sharma be drafted into the playing eleven? The visitors will have to make quick decisions. A defeat today will see them go two down and in a five-match series, that isn't a great position to be.
Despite their win, Australia too have a couple of forced changes to make. Warner misses the next two games due to a paternity leave. Shaun Marsh could take his place. Mitchell Marsh, on the other hand, is handed a break. Perhaps, Kane Richardson will get a game. Should be an interesting game in Brisbane.
He's got it better than run-a-ball. The perfect knock that this Indian innings required. He didn't let the momentum dip at all.
