AB de Villiers, South Africa captain: "We wanted to bowl first and there is a bit of dew towards the end. All in all, it was a very good performance from the boys, I'm really proud of them. I don't feel that we had the perfect game in these 5 games, we have areas to work on, but we go to New Zealand with a lot of positives. I was pretty pleased with the bowling. Four out of five games we bowled them out, today we came close. There is a lot of depth in the bowling, but as I said the dew factor made it hard for the bowlers today. We lost the World Cup semi-final there and looking forward to a really exciting series in New Zealand."

Faf du Plessis (MoS):"It's been a nice series. I got some big scores and pretty happy. We have got lots of guys putting their hands up at different stages. Every time I go back I forgot about what happened in the previous game and just look to hit the ball well in nets. Just about making sure I keep ticking the technical boxes. Playing the ball really nice and late. My ankle was a bit painful towards the end, but nothing to worry."

Hashim Amla (MoM): "Missed out on the first couple of games and nice to get a hundred here. There were a few loose balls upfront and I was just playing a passive role when Quinny got going. Fortunately, we have managed to score past 350 quite a few times. The game was nicely set up. We got a good total. Lot of the guys got runs and it has been a really nice series. We have thoroughly enjoyed playing at home and looking forward to a tough series in New Zealand."

Upul Tharanga, Sri Lanka captain: "We knew it's not going to be easy. There are young players and I hope they learn a lot from series like this. The target is too huge and we lost too many wickets in the first 15 overs. There are lots of positives. We have got a very young team. It's a very good experience for them. We are going to Australia after this. Looking forward to that. Congratulations to South Africa team, they have played really well throughout.

SA complete 5-0 whitewash:South Africa complete a 5-0 whitewash to dethrone Australia from the top spot of the ODI rankings. But Gunaratne deserves some praise too. He has ensured that Sri Lanka did not get bowled out despite their top-order collapse. He will go back with his head held high even though South Africa have managed an emphatic 88-run victory which brings an end to Sri Lanka's dismal tour.

Keeping the fight on:Sri Lanka might be going down but Gunaratne does not want to go down without a fight. He brings up maiden ODI hundred with a four off Phehlukwayo in the 48th over and celebrates it with another boundary.

Frustrating the bowlers:Gunaratne having some fun now as he toys with the South African bowlers. Four fours in a row off Behardien followed by a six and a four off Andile Phehlukwayo. The equation though looks pretty much out of Sri Lanka's hands. They need 129 from six overs, a required rate of 21.5.

Gunaratne keeps SA waiting:Gunaratne brings up his maiden ODI fifty, getting there in 81 balls. That's patience for you.

Build-up: South Africa eye whitewash, SL seek consolationHello and welcome to our coverage of the fifth and final One Day International between South Africa and Sri Lanka at the SuperSport Park in Centurion.

Not a single century was scored by a Sri Lankan batsman during the South Africa tour until the fourth ODI, when Upul Tharanga came up with a fighting century. Chasing a daunting target of 368, which was possible thanks to a superb 185 from Faf du Plessis, Sri Lanka gave themselves a fighting chance through spirited knocks from Tharanga, Niroshan Dickwella and Sandun Weerakkody, but eventually ended up 41 short of the target. However, what those efforts did was to prove that Sri Lanka have eleven that can offer some competition to the powerful South African side.

While the only success for Sri Lanka came during their 2-1 series victory during the T20I series against an inexperienced line-up, the visitors will be eager to return home with at least one victory in the ODI series, with the final match providing them an opportunity to salvage pride with a consolation win. The game would also act as a good platform for the youngsters in the side to show some mettle and make a case for their selection for the Champions Trophy later this year.

Meanwhile, the top ranking in ODIs will act as an incentive for South Africa, who can achieve that if they complete a 5-0 whitewash. A string of clinical performances and consistency shown by the senior players has meant that the Proteas have been a dominant force in ODI cricket this summer. Since their loss to West Indies in the tri-series in June 2016, South Africa haven't lost a single 50-over game, registering 10 victories on the trot, and they will be keen to extend their winning streak and go into the series against New Zealand with added confidence.
