Ireland and Netherlands played out one of the best games of the tournament in the previous edition in Bangladesh but this time, the contest is purely inconsequential. Rain didn't help their cause as well as Oman and Bangladesh will battle it out for the final spot later in the day. Both these sides would hope that rain stays away today so that we can have a full game.

Ireland have won the toss and as expected, they will bowl first in these conditions. Thankfully the rain has stayed away but the threat remains.

The teams were out there for the national anthems and it started to rain again. The covers are coming on and the players are heading back to the dressing rooms. Another update expected at 4pm IST.

Netherlands are going after every ball but the executions isn't a great one. They've lost two wickets in the second over are now 13 for 2 in a six-over affair. Not the kind of start they were looking for.

So Netherlands end with 59 for 5 from their six overs. George Dockrell ended with figures of 3 for 7 from his two overs. Match winning? Only time will tell. There's a bit of spin in the track and it'll be an interesting chase.

Ireland, in their chase, have been dented by Van Meekeren's double strike. First Kevin O'Brien and the Paul Stirling fall trying to up the ante. After three overs, Ireland are 32 for 3.

And with this, we come to an end of this six-over affair. Both teams were already out of the contention and rain threatened to take this game away from them as well.

Borren: "Not a lot of progress in the tournament. One game and today we got to play six overs. I'm happy with the bowlers for they have bowled better lengths and lines. Also it was an outstanding catch from Peter Seelaar. Last 3 overs the bowlers were brilliant, the yorkers were critical in changing the course of the game."

Porterfield: "We have not been good enough in the last week or so. We have been beaten by a better team today and we have to focus on the future."

"It's really special. I'm not sure what really happened yet. That feeling hasn't sunk yet. We assessed the conditions after our batting and decided we have to bowl short of a length as the ball is sticking around a little bit. I did what I have to do and have been training for the last 3 to 4 months. The groundstaff have done a fantastic job and this wouldn't have been possible without them" lauds an excited yet confused Paul van Meekeren who seems to have been amazed by the result of the game.
