Solid Beginning

Both Roy and Hales have made a solid beginning to their innings here. Hardly anything off the wicket to bother them, although it is pretty overcast overhead this afternoon. Ireland will need a quick wicket here. As of now, Murtagh and Chase haven't been too special.

Getting Started

Jason Roy and Alex Hales are out there to open the innings for England. Conditions seem quite overcast in London today. Television commentator Michael Atherton is quick to point out that irrespective of the opponents that England face, it is going to be a full house here at the Lord's today. That's a good thing to know as we start off.

Who will take the new ball? Tim Murtagh it is. They would need early breakthroughs, given their batting performance in the previous game, they would surely not be very confident about chasing anything big.

Elevens

England (Playing XI): Jason Roy, Alex Hales, Joe Root, Eoin Morgan(c), Jonny Bairstow, Sam Billings(w), Adil Rashid, David Willey, Liam Plunkett, Jake Ball, Mark Wood

Ireland (Playing XI): Ed Joyce, Paul Stirling, William Porterfield(c), Andrew Balbirnie, Niall O'Brien(w), Gary Wilson, Kevin O'Brien, Barry McCarthy, George Dockrell, Tim Murtagh, Peter Chase

Toss Time, Folks

Ireland won the toss and elected to field first

Warming Up

After the shellacking Ireland received at the hands of England, they would be still reeling under the effects of that loss. Whether or not, they have recovered in time for the second and final ODI, we would know soon.

Adil Rashid's monstrous performance where he bagged his maiden five-for in ODIs received tremendous praises from every corner, especially from his skipper Eoin Morgan. Read more about that and also our preview where Rob Johnston gives us an insight into this game. Not just that, Morgan and Sam Billings will fly out to India after this game to render their services again in the ongoing IPL. That of course would be a short trip as they join their team's training camp in Spain right after the end of the league stages in India.
