England take 2-0 lead:
In the end, it was a pretty comfortable win for England with Woakes scoring the winning runs. They chase down the target with 5.4 overs to spare to take a 2-0 lead in the ODI series. Root played the anchor's role to perfection while the likes of Buttler and Woakes batted positively after a strong start from Hales and Bairstow. Australia tried to sneak back into the game through's Starc's efforts but the lack of runs on the board cost them in the end.
Woakes turns the tide:
A fine counter-attacking innings from Chris Woakes has put England back in command. With a slew of boundaries, he has scored the bulk of the runs in the partnership with Root to take England to 261 for 6 after 43, needing 10 more.
Starc hope for Australia:
A superb delivery to dismiss Buttler - round the wicket, moves away after pitching and takes the outside edge. Moeen Ali follows soon after, bowled by Starc as he finishes with figures of 4 for 59. England are 228 for 6.
Steady partnership revives England:
A breezy knock from Jos Buttler has complemented a solid innings from Root as they put on a good partnership to get England back on track in the chase. The fifty partnership is up in the 35th over as England move to 209 for 4, chasing 271.
Starc dismisses Morgan:
The England limited-overs captain Eoin Morgan and Test skipper Joe Root were involved in a good partnership to get their team back on track. However, their association came to an abrupt end as Morgan was bowled by a Starc delivery that had a hint of reverse to leave England at 157 for 4 in the 28th over.
Debutant Richardson ends century stand:
Jhye Richardson provides a much-needed breakthrough by dismissing Hales for 57. The No. 3 batsman, who was looking to guide the ball to third man, ends up playing it on to the stumps, which ends a 117-run partnership. Bairstow also follows a short while later, handing a catch to Warner at short cover to leave England at 129 for 3 in the 22nd over.
Hales, Bairstow fifties lead England's reply:
Sixth ODI fifty for Bairstow and 11th for Hales as they guide England in the chase with a century stand. England are 109/1 after 17 overs.
England on right track:
Both batsmen have entered the 40s now and have scored more than a run-a-ball to take England to 91 for 1 after 14. Can Australia break England's momentum?
England positive despite early wicket
The centurion of the first ODI, Jason Roy, falls early. A half-volley from Starc and he hits it straight to Finch at short mid-wicket to depart for 2. But the wicket hasn't deterred Alex Hales and Jonny Bairstow from playing their shots. They have scored nine fours between them to take England to 45 for 1 after 7.
Australia finish with 270/9:
Cameron White, playing his first international game in nearly three years, failed to find the boundary even once. Barring four fours off Rashid by debutant Alex Carey and a six by Andrew Tye in the final over, no other boundaries were conceded by England in the last 10 overs - which yielded only 57 runs - highlighting the bowlers' discipline and persistence.
Carey falls:
Woakes's football skills prove handy as he comes up with an accurate kick to find Carey short of the crease at the striker's end. England have done well to restrict the boundaries in the death overs.
Carey on song:
Debutant Alex Carey has started off well, scoring boundaries at will against Rashid. With White for company, Carey helps Australia past 250 in the 47th over. Can Australia finish strong?
Quick strikes:
An 85-run partnership comes to an end with the departure of Mitchell Marsh in the 40th over. The batsman comes down the track to Adil Rashid only to be out stumped. Finch departs in the next over, mistiming an attempted big hit off Plunkett. He's out for 106 off 114, followed soon after by Stoinis, who's caught behind off Rashid. Australia slip again, reduced to 216 for 6.
Second successive ton for Finch:
The right-handed opener has again raised his hand up for Australia's cause, registering his second successive three-figure score in the series to power Australia to the 200-run mark in the 38th over.
Toss and teams:
Australia won the toss and decided to bat first. They have two debutants in their line-up for this game while England are unchanged. Veteran Cameron White makes a comeback, featuring in his first international game for Australia in nearly three years. Adam Zampa, Tim Paine and Pat Cummins are the ones left out.

Prelude:
Hello and welcome to the Live Blog for the second One Day International between Australia and England at The Gabba, Brisbane. That England are a much-improved limited-overs team was evident in the way they put behind the dismal Ashes performance to take a 1-0 lead at the MCG, riding on Jason Roy's record ton and a solid contribution from Joe Root to chase down a 300+ target comfortably. On the other hand, Australia's slump in the 50-over format continued as they suffered their 9th loss in 16 ODIs since January 2017. With an explosive limited-overs, England will feel in control for the first time in this Australian tour and would look to consolidate their advantage by taking a 2-0 lead.
As far as the team news is concerned, England are likely to go in with an unchanged side while Australia will miss the services of Josh Hazlewood and Tim Paine, who have been ruled out due to illness. Alex Carey and Jhye Richardson are set to debut.
