Ishan Kishan goes!

Amit Mishra has struck in his first over. The left-handed opener looked good till he lasted. He went for a slog sweep to take the leggie on straight away but the top-edge went to Zaheer Khan at short fine leg.

Suresh Raina sent packing

Pat Cummins has cleaned up the GL skipper. Raina looked to play over extra cover but was beaten by a slightly full length from the Aussie. Good bowling, this. The middle and off-stump were floored.

No Dwayne magic today

Big, big wicket for Delhi Daredevils. Some classical ball watching from the hero of the previous game and has been run out in the process. They didn't really have to go upstairs but they did, just to be safe. Smith was well short.

TOSS - DD opt to field

Teams are in - Gujarat Lions continue to play just three foreign players. Spare a thought for Chirag Suri. (Note his name down, quiz enthusiasts!).

There's another 'name' who makes his return - Carlon Brathwaite is back for DD.

Build-up, you say? The lesser said about the two teams in question, the better. But here we are, for that glorious fixture that has no bearing on the league whatsoever. Yes, the dead-rubber is here. But don't let that dim your spirits yet. (Try, come on!)

So, Gujarat Lions played a fantastic home game in their previous fixture, chasing a total in excess of 190. Their win basically ruining things for KXIP, who were going to go for a Roger Federer-inspired sneak attack on fourth-placed Sunrisers Hyderabad. Well, that's not happening anymore. Not entirely at least. KXIP need to win their last two games and pray that GL beat SRH later. But that's an equation for a later day.

Let's talk about Delhi Daredevils. One day they enthrall you like none other, and the next day, they appear to be a fine inspiration for Comedy of Errors Part II. DD is the sort of team you wished did well, but it just doesn't. They've some of the most exciting batting talent from the country and that makes you root for them. But there's this habit of too much chopping and changing that has negated their brilliance. It's a habit they picked up last season, and somehow can't get rid of it.
