Cummins cleans up Vinod:
Something had to give. Two quiet overs and Vinod looks to take matters into his own hands as he attempts to pull a rather pacy delivery from outside off stump. The ball gets the inside edge and lands on the stumps.
Virat Kohli. Kotla erupts.
PowerPlay 37/1
Good start and then quiet:
Chris Gayle got off to a fluent start, hitting a couple of boundaries off Zaheer and then hitting Shami for a six. But it's been an otherwise sedate start for RCB. Vishnu Vinod, who is out opening in the absence of Manedep Singh, has been yearning for strike. Hasn't had much of it!
Watson returns; RCB will bat first
A toss win for Kohli. He could have done with a little more of these while they were still in contention. RCB will bat. They have only three remaining foreign players - Shane Watson, Chris Gayle and Travis Head. Others are away on national duty or are injured.
There's an IPL debut for Avesh Khan. He played in the U-19 World Cup last year and is an exciting pace-bowling prospect. Meanwhile, Delhi are unchanged.
Royal Challengers Bangalore (Playing XI): Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli(c), Vishnu Vinod, Travis Head, Kedar Jadhav(w), Shane Watson, Sachin Baby, Pawan Negi, Harshal Patel, Avesh Khan, Yuzvendra Chahal
Delhi Daredevils (Playing XI): Sanju Samson, Karun Nair, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant(w), Marlon Samuels, Corey Anderson, Pat Cummins, Amit Mishra, Mohammed Shami, Shahbaz Nadeem, Zaheer Khan(c)
Build Up:
We have our Top 4 of the league phase.
1. Mumbai Indians
2. Rising Pune Supergiant
3. Sunrisers Hyderabad
4. Kolkata Knight Riders
Game 56 features Delhi Daredevils and Royal Challengers Bangalore. Two teams at in the bottom half of the points table. This match holds absolutely no consequence. Except perhaps as a morale-booster. In Delhi's case, there's a small possibility of a big win taking them above KXIP to the fifth spot. RCB are assured of a wooden spoon.
That said, there are some players who'll demand your attention even in an inconsequential game. As I say this, Narbavi pings from the Kotla - "A loud cheer goes up as Virat Kohli enters."
There you go!
