2-0 to the Kiwis
2-0 to the Kiwis
That's also the end of the game. With Ambris ruled out of the Test with a fracture, he won't be coming out to bat and hence New Zealand have won the Test and with that the series, 2-0. What a comprehensive win this is for the hosts! Their bowlers once again came to the fore with everyone chipping with the wickets. They will face a much bigger challenge later in the summer when England pay a visit but this will definitely boost their confidence.
End of the show
Williamson has had enough. He brings on his left-arm spinner to pick the remaining wickets and the move has done the trick. Both Cummins and Roach have been dismissed off consecutive deliveries. While Cummins skied one and was caught, Roach was bowled.
Windies having fun
Kemar Roach is swinging his bat for each and every single delivery and in the process, he has helped himself to a few boundaries. Superb fun this is. Last five overs have yielded 33 runs.
Another stunner
This Test match has had its share of excellent catches and now Williamson adds to it by taking a one-handed stunner to his left at gully to get rid of Reifer. This was perhaps the only they could have dismissed the stubborn debutant. Southee with the wicket.
Carbon-copy
Short ball from Wagner, Chase goes for the pull, gets a top edge that is pouched at square leg by de Grandhomme. This is exactly how Hope got dismissed. With Ambris ruled out of the game, New Zealand are effectively just three wickets away from winning the Test.
Guptill out of ODIs
Meanwhile, New Zealand have also announced the squad for the ODI series against Windies, which will commence on December 20. Guptill is out, Worker is in. More
200 for Boult
Fantastic achievement! He hasn't made the greatest of starts today, he was also warned for running on the pitch today and now he has become the sixth Kiwi to get to 200 Test wickets. What an amazing achievement. He is also just the fifth left-arm seamer of all time to go past 200. You would expect Boult to keep climbing up that list considering he has age on his side.
From the Windies point of view, this is a huge moment for them. They have lost one man who had the ability to keep batting throughout the day. Their skipper Brathwaite saw one short outside off and went for it, only to hit it straight to gully. Roston Chase comes in.
Build up
New Zealand edged a step closer on Monday following another dominating day with both bat and ball. Once Trent Boult removed the Windies tail very early in the day, the hosts struggled for a bit at the start of their second innings but a half-century from skipper Kane Williamson and a record-equalling 17th Test hundred from Ross Taylor helped New Zealand recover.
Windies did shows of spirit when they picked up some regular wickets but at the other, the runs were flowing as well. With the Kiwis already managing a lead of 152 in the first innings, they declared after setting the visitors a target of 444. It was seen as a bold move considering there were still two whole days of the game left.
Williamson's decision was backed up well by Boult and Southee though, with both picking up a wicket each. Not many are backing Windies to bat out the day today. But if Brathwaite and Hope can manage to hang on beyond lunch, things should slowly start getting interesting. Welcome to the live blog of the fourth day's play.
