That's it from us folks! What a thrilling game we had and hope you enjoyed our coverage. Until next time then!
Here's what the players had to say:
Faf du Plessis: We needed it to keep the cup alive. I thought we bowled much better and kept them to a lower score. You always need someone to ensure that we do not collapse; quite the one we did not have yesterday. That's what Amla did, he was steady and took us through. Last night we were disappointed that we did not do well but am glad that we came back strong. I expect the third match to be in similar conditions and hope to continue the form.
Sarfraz Ahmed: We have to give credit to the World XI. Hashim bhai played beautifully. This is a learning opportunity for all of us, it will teach the bowlers how to bowl in tough situations to class players like Hash. We were a bit sloppy in the field and that cost us. Had the execution been better, we could have won this match. You should also have a slower length ball in your kitty apart from the yorkers.
Thisara Perera, Man of the Match: First of all it is an honour to be selected for the World XI side, it was my dream. Hash told me to stay till the end so that we could cash in. Normally I play similarly in situations for my country as well and this has become a habit now (finishing off games). Thanks to the Pakistani fans, they really cheered well for us.
It was delicious for the crowds that have poured in. To imagine that a few of them even left the stands when the spinners had a stranglehold on the proceedings of an obvious Pakistani victory should tell the story. The collapse towards the end in the first innings that meant a cool few runs short too would come back to haunt them. Malik's dropped catch would hurt. Some sloppy fielding would hurt. An over short for Nawaz could hurt. Either all that or Thisara Perera. Wait on, a sermon coming up.
PERERA THE STAR: After picking up 2 for 23 from his three overs, he's smashed 47 off 19 to seal a thrilling win.
ALL TOO EASY: Perera, 37 off 15, has brought the equation down to 13 off the last over.
40 off 16 now.
DU PLESSIS FALLS: The captain was looking to take the over aggressive approach and lobs a simple catch to extra cover. World XI 106 for 3 and need 69 off 36 now.
50 for AMLA: He gets there off 37 balls and is keeping World XI on track. The equation is much more manageable now. 77 needed off 40 now.
And here's what Paul Collingwood had to say: "The last time I came to Pakistan, I understood that cricket in Pakistan is a religion. The passion and the atmosphere that you create in the ground is something special. I experienced that certainly in Karachi in 2005 and certainly tonight was a great start to, hopefully, a series that we can still win. So I am very much looking forward to playing in the game.
"I am very proud, I can tell you right now. I came out of the net session yesterday and it felt like I was playing international cricket again. That, to me, when I retired back in 2011 and to have that same feeling again, that anxiety and that intensity and all those things when you play for your country and they all come back again."
Hello and welcome to the live blog of the second T20I between Pakistan and World XI in Lahore. The hosts won the first contest by 20 runs. It was all festive in Lahore last night and folks don't expect anything different tonight as well. Cricket's back in Pakistan and the fans are keen to ensure they make it memorable.
Bharat R was bestowed with the opportunity to work on the game last night and here's what he had to say: "On March 3, 2009, 12 gunmen launched a deadly attack on the touring Sri Lankan team near the Gaddafi stadium, Lahore, resulting in injuries to Kumar Sangakkara, Mahela Jayawardene, Ajantha Mendis, Thilan Samaraweera and Tharanga Paravitarana. The attack left unimaginable scars on the minds of the Sri Lankan cricketers. It also led to Pakistan being [largely] deprived of playing cricket in their homeland due to security reasons.
"But there was always hope that that one day thousands of cricket fans across Pakistan could cheer their heroes in stadium. Hope is a gift that could take you through the caverns of darkness into the land of light. And for Pakistan's fans that everlasting hope of witnessing their cricketing heroes bore fruit when Peshawar Zalmi took on Quetta Gladiators in the PSL final in Lahore in March this year. Six months later, the Faf du Plessis-led World XI side locked horns against Pakistan in a three-match T20I series at the iconic Gadaffi stadium."
