ALL OVER - England win by 242 runs

The problem with chasing a record ODI total of 481/6 - as Australia discovered on this forgettable day in Trent Bridge - was that it was nearly impossible. Unless you possessed a batting line-up as deep and devastating as the current No. 1 ODI side. Australia didn't, and it showed as their chase never appeared to be on track even when Travis Head led the fight, and soon petered out to leave them with yet another series defeat.

England are three away from series victory

Captain Tim Paine and Glenn Maxwell are both gone. It's just a matter of time now, before England walk away with yet another superb series victory.

FIFTY for Bairstow and Jason Roy

Half-century #7 for the England opener. He's been exceptional in recent times. He made bright starts in the previous two games too, but has pushed on today.

Jason Roy too gets to his 50, carrying forward his form from Cardiff. Australia are in for a long day [and a steep target].

One-way traffic!

It's been all England so far. Roy and Bairstow have been scoring boundaries with too much ease. And when Agar created an LBW chance, or so he was made to believe by Dharmasena's raised finger, Bairstow reviewed with success.

Brisk start for England

Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow have started brightly here. Not much in the surface for the bowlers - probably why Ashton Agar is already on in the seventh over.

TOSS - Australia opt to bowl first. Billy Stanlake in for Kane Richardson for Australia; Eoin Morgan replaces Sam Billings

Prelude - Can Australia keep the series going?

They'll surely hope so.

They've been ordinary in the two games so far, and will turn to the returning Billy Stanlake to keep their batting-heavy opponents in check. But that's easier said than done though. At this same venue, Alex Hales smashed his way to 171 of England's 444, which is the highest-ever ODI total. Our correspondent in Nottingham, Vithushan, isn't giving Australia much of a chance though. Here's his preview.

Talking of Hales, he fronted the media yesterday and offered a few quotable quotes. He went for one armed with a lot of optimism. "If I could pick a venue to bat at, this would be it," he says. Understandable. He has scores of 5 and 26 in the series so far, but he'll hope the venue which gave him his best evening in England ODI colours, will enable him to up the ante.

Over in the Australia side of things, it isn't all gloom afterall. Shaun Marsh scored a fine century in the second ODI and Aaron Finch, who batted at No. 5 in the second game, is open to staying put there. It makes room for D'Arcy Short to slot in at the top, but there's a problem - Finch fell for a four-ball duck in Cardiff. He might have do a little more to make this top-order adjustment to work in Australia's favour.
