A pulled six over deep backward square leg and two cracking boundaries through the off-side gives Suryakumar Yadav 15 runs off the Mitch Johnson and that sets things moving for the MI.
Surya gets going against Mitch Johnson
So, we are all in readiness. Suryakumar Yadav and Evin Lewis have come out to open the innings for MI. And that's an interesting choice by DK - Nitish Rana has been asked to start off the proceedings...
Elevens:
Mumbai Indians (Playing XI): Suryakumar Yadav, Evin Lewis, Ishan Kishan(w), Rohit Sharma(c), Jean-Paul Duminy, Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, Ben Cutting, Mitchell McClenaghan, Mayank Markande, Jasprit Bumrah
Kolkata Knight Riders (Playing XI): Chris Lynn, Sunil Narine, Robin Uthappa, Shubman Gill, Nitish Rana, Dinesh Karthik(w/c), Andre Russell, Piyush Chawla, Mitchell Johnson, Prasidh Krishna, Kuldeep Yadav
Team news:
KKR have made two changes, or as Dinesh Karthik asserts, two forced changes. Shivam Mavi injured his finger the other night and he's being replaced by the Karnataka pacer Prasidh Krishna. Nitish Rana has recovered from his back spasms and is back in place of Rinku Singh.
MI are unchanged.
Toss time, folks
Kolkata Knight Riders have won the toss and elected to field first.
Still half an hour to go to the start of #MIvsKKR, good time to know more about the latest sensation of the country - Shubman Gill. Shirshendu caught up with him in a candid chat.
So what does our early bird have to say?
Purnima Malhotra is at the Wankhede Stadium today and she doesn't like the humidity already. "Hello! Hot and sticky here. There are quite a few fans queueing up outside; don't see too many in the stands as yet," she reports. "Hardik Pandya just marked his run up and goes back to bowling on the side wicket where Malinga is keeping an eye on Bumrah and others. And there's Sunil Narine rolling his arm on the other side strip."
How have Kolkata done so far?
A bit of an up and down tournament for KKR but they seem to be clicking nicely into gear as the business end approaches. They are on a two-match winning streak and would like to make it a hat-trick of wins. The spinners and the promotion of Shubman Gill to 4 worked wonders against Chennai Super Kings in their last match as they cantered home with Dinesh Karthik playing a blinder. Karthik was there at the end against RCB too to steer his side home in a tense finish. The KKR skipper is currently in the form of his life and is certainly leading the side with confidence as well.
Here's the match preview from Purnima Malhotra. Dig into that for more info.
Interestingly both the sides haven't met each other in the tournament so far. But it is a double-header of sorts in the space of four days as they face off to grab the crucial 4 points on offer.
The toss and the teams aren't too far away. So do stay tuned.
While we wait for the toss, here's something for you to bite your teeth into on a Sunday afternoon.

The buildup
Can they pull off the impossible once more? They did it in 2015, can they repeat it this year? That will be the question on every MI fan's lips. Before the game against KXIP they needed to win at least 5 out of their 6 games remaining. They did just that against them. Now onto the next target - a game against KKR at their home - the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Hello and a warm welcome to our live blog of match 37 of the 2018 IPL between the Mumbai Indians and the Kolkata Knight Riders.
