Lame dismissal

Carey follows Warner to the pavilion in the second over. This was very bizarre to watch. Very unusual from Carey who wants to break the shackles by giving himself room and smash the ball but he only manages to get a feather to the keeper. Australia are in trouble and it is Steven Smith who joins the skipper out in the middle.

Massive strike

Jofra Archer gets the big fish. He has been bang on the money right from the outset and Warner gets himself into an awkward position while facing a back of the length delivery that comes in a bit after pitching. It takes a bit of the glove and hits the elbow as well before being caught by the keeper. Warner immediately reviews assuming it never hit the glove but unfortunately he has taken the review with him to the pavilion. Surprisingly, Australia have sent Alex Carey in at number 3.

Toss - Australia opt to bat

Definitely a wise decision after the implosion last time around. Australia have won the toss and they want to put runs on the board. Both teams are unchanged so Labuschagne has to wait for his debut which was always going to be hard as we had anticipated.

England (Playing XI): Jos Buttler(w), Jonny Bairstow, Dawid Malan, Tom Banton, Eoin Morgan(c), Moeen Ali, Chris Jordan, Tom Curran, Adil Rashid, Jofra Archer, Mark Wood

Australia (Playing XI): Aaron Finch(c), David Warner, Steven Smith, Glenn Maxwell, Alex Carey(w), Marcus Stoinis, Ashton Agar, Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Kane Richardson, Adam Zampa

Build up

Australia needed 39 runs from 36 deliveries with 9 wickets in hand in the first T20I at one stage. They still ended up losing that contest quite dramatically. It was certainly one of the most extraordinary collapses ever witnessed in this format and Australia are now tasked with the responsibility of putting that behind them and focus on squaring the series. That top order is certainly very strong but who are Australia's reliable finishers in this format? That weaklink was certainly exposed by Chris Jordan and Co. and without a shadow of a doubt, England will be looking to target that once again.

Eoin Morgan was full of praise for Jordan and he will be banking on the experienced pacer to perhaps to dent the top order early as well so that they don't leave it very late. David Warner and Aaron Finch scored 104 runs between them in the first game and the onus will be on those two yet again to deliver. It will be interesting to see where Marcus Stoinis bats this time though after the unconvincing unbeaten 23.

For England, Dawid Malan was impressive yet again as he often is in this format. But the middle order crumbled last time with Tom Banton returning to number 4. It's clearly a position he doesn't fancy much but with a marauding top order of Buttler, Bairstow and Malan already in place, Banton will have to find ways to adapt himself. If the pitch is on the drier side, we might once again see a tight contest instead of a high-scoring one. Welcome to the live blog for this second T20I.
