The Yorkshire batsman hammered an unbeaten 86 off just 48 balls after the top 3 crumbled with just 34 on the board in the powerplay. Bairstow combined with Stokes and stayed there until the end to chase down 180 on a night when Butter, Roy and Morgan combined to make just 19. Just how good is this English lineup?

South Africa would have been mightily pleased to successfully stage their first game ever since corona brought the world to a standstill. They have a lot of issues going off the field as well but results on the pitch can always provide relief. The hosts didn't cave in easily but will have to find a way to keep striking with the ball to level the series. Their strike bowler Rabada had an off day and Beuran Hendricks leaked runs left, right and center to add to their woes. They would have been pleased with the effort from the batters and they will have to step up again tonight to ensure this series witnesses a decider.
