Done & Dusted: Victory by 9 wickets. Australia go up 1-0

It's not a blemish-free chase as would have been hoped. Robinson gets Carey nicking to deny Australia the bragging rights of a 10-wicket win. But Australia have marched to a 1-0 lead and polished off these 20 runs in 5.1 overs. Such an anti-climax after last evening's England resistance.

Australia have returned to winning ways at the Gabba. It's been a near complete performance for them. It started on the opening day when England folded for 147. Travis Head then used a platform set by Warner and Labuschagne to smash a thrilling century. Australia's bowlers too held up well this morning and didn't buckle under the pressure of the Root-Malan stand yesterday. All in all tons of positives for the hosts.

That brings us to the end of this live blog. Do follow Cricbuzz for all the reaction stories from this game. Until Adelaide, it's goodbye. Ciao!

Prelude - Day 4

How do you like your Test matches? Is this one up there yet. After the events of the first two days, we may not have had a Day 4 to speak of and then yesterday at the Gabba, Joe Root and Dawid Malan rolled up their sleeves for a fight back ans boy did they succeed. From being rolled over for 147 all-out and then being whacked to the tune of trailing by 278, the 159* run partnership has helped England work themselves back!

Now the visitors trail by 58, which is still substantial because as the old adage goes - 'add two wickets to the current score and tell us'.

It's up to Root and Malan to first knock off those runs and then work their way into setting up the final day showdown. All of it is getting far too ahead of ourselves. They have some individual milestones looming. Malan's only Test hundred came here in Australia, at Perth in 2017. Root doesn't have a Test ton in Australia. So yeah, big day!

Here's too another giddy day of Test cricket. Welcome !
