KKR ARE THROUGH TO THE QUALIFIER 2!Ouch! That will hurt RCB! It's the second consecutive year that they've been knocked out in the Eliminator. That's that for Virat Kohli at the helm of the franchise. He's stepping down from his post as captain, ICYMI. But full credit to KKR who have outplayed RCB tonight. They came back brilliantly after Kohli and Padikkal started strong. The spinners then changed the game in the middle overs dominating RCB's batsmen who eventually ended up finishing with a below-par total of 138.
Iyer and Gill started strongly for KKR, but RCB made a brilliant comeback with some quick wickets. However, just when RCB were clawing their way back, one over from Dan Christia to Narine tilted the momentum in KKR's favour. Narine smashed three sixes in that over and the required run-rate dropped drastically. Siraj struck back with two wickets in an over, but it was an easy win for KKR thereafter with just 7 needed in the final over. They eventually beat RCB by 4 wickets.
KKR will now face Delhi Capitals in the Qualifier 2 on Wednesday (October 13). Can they advance to the finals to beat CSK? We'll find out soon. Thank you for your company today. Do join us on Wednesday! Goodnight.
Last over, 7 runs needed. Can RCB defend this?
Siraj bowls the 18th conceding just 3 runs and picks up 2 wickets!
REVIEW! An outside edge off Karthik is caught behind by Bharat, but the umpire sends it upstairs to be doubly sure. He's gone!KKR lose their sixth, but they're favourites at this stage. Surely? Still 13 needed off 15.
OUT! This time Narine has to go for 26. Siraj knocks him over with a slower one as he's beaten for pace. But KKR need just 15 now.
Lucky break for Narine
He gets early into a shot off Harshal Patel's bowling and gets a leading edge. Padikkal runs from midwicket to mid on but puts down the ball.
Chahal strikes again
Second wicket for Chahal Nitish Rana falls in his attempt to slog sweep, handing a catch to de Villiers in the deep. Only 16 runs conceded by Chahal in his four overs. But KKR still in control as they need 27 off 30.
Narine back to torment RCB
He did it with the ball, and now with the bat. Christian bowls the 12th over and is hit for three sixes by Narine, ending up conceding 22 runs. Although Chahal bowls it tight, KKR are well-placed at 107/3 after 13 overs.
OUT!! Iyer can't make the most of his reprieve, gets a little bit of glove and Bharat takes a good diving catch.RCB are clawing their way back into the game. Iyer departs for 26 off 30.
DROPPED!Iyer survives as Shahbaz drops a catch that should've been taken. He throws in the dive but is unable to hold on.
OUT!RCB review and they have it right! It was a quite strong appeal from Chahal but the on-field umpire adjudged it not out. But RCB are confident. It was the wrong 'un. Pad first and three reds on ball-tracking! Tripathi has to go. RCB are ecstatic as Chahal strikes in his first over. The game is turning?
This is a game where both teams have a point to prove. KKR have had two years of hurt that they're looking to put behind them. RCB... well, if they lose, Virat Kohli's stint as the franchise's captain will have been put to a disappointing end with the Banglaore-based franchise bereft of an IPL trophy yet again.
Hello and welcome to the Eliminator between KKR and RCB in Sharjah. RCB seem to have found some zing, which is evident in their campaign so far. Yes, they had their disappointments in the UAE league, but have bounced back rather well on the back of Glenn Maxwell's consistency in their middle order. The bowlers have done the job too, and RCB look like the team to beat.
But they're up against the mighty Knight Riders who have turned things around rather well after an ordinary Indian leg, finding momentum in the UAE leg. Venkatesh Iyer has been a revelation and he's more often than not given his teams starts that they've built around.
Toss, teams, everything else, coming up in a bit! Stay tuned.
