CSK's woes continue
Eventually, CSK were snuffed out for a mere 126. Dhoni was the last man to fall as R Chahar picked his third scalp. However, the man of the moment for PBKS would be Livingstone. The Lancashire all-rounder played with bravado with a willow in hand and chipped in with two wickets. Vaibhav also made a mark by taking a couple of wickets upfront.
On the other hand, third straight defeat for CSK.
Pitch report courtesy Matthew Hayden: "It is really going to be an exciting batting match I feel. Perhaps the Man of the Match I feel is going to be this fellow here (groundstaff). He is spraying Apsa 80 and that is is an anti-dew agent, which is going to be play a big part in the match. Rod Tucker and Javagal Srinath came down for a late inspection. The order of the day was that these guys spray it late to try and avoid the dew factor. This wicket doesn't look a lot different, which tells me. Hello, batting.. It's going to be a run-evening once again. But the challenge batting first is to know what is enough. We saw CSK get defeated setting 210 the other night. If this wicket was a box of chocolates, it would be wrapped in Mumbai colours and called a Mumbai delight. " says Haydos.
Prelude:
Two played - Two lost. CSK's rather modest progress report so far. CSK were able to notch up a 200 plus score in their match versus Lucknow Super Giants but ended up on the losing side.
Yes, with high humidity, there was considerable dew around. But CSK's bowlers wilted under pressure. The one bowler who came under severe pressure was Shivam Dube. The batting all-rounder bowled the crucial 19th over and ended up giving away 25 runs which changed the complexion of the game. Can CSK gamble with just three foreign players and bring in the exciting Hangergakar into the XI?
On the plus side, Uthappa and Dube himself made useful contributions with the bat while Dwaine Pretorius and Dwayne Bravo gave no pace on the ball and bowled well, especially considering the dew around.
Their opponent - PBKS - too lost their last match versus KKR. PBKS, who have an explosive batting unit, ended up with a below par 137. Andre Russell then shut the door on their chances. Jonny Bairstow is set to play today and that should bolster their batting unit further.
