RCB edge out RR
Harshal provided the finishing touches to the chase by thwacking Jaiswal for a six. But it was the pair of Karthik and Shahbaz who broke the game with an association of 67. Karthik remained unbeaten on 44.
It was certainly a roller-coaster of game where both sides had their chances. In the end, RCB edged out RR.
Some drama and action
Padikkal was beaten a couple of times but also showed his class by using his wrists to whip Siraj over backward square leg and into the stands. Economy of movement.
Buttler and Padikkal are trying to resurrect the innings. Buttler, though, was dropped twice in the 7th over, with Willey misjudging one at deep square leg.
Willey and the ability to swing
Willey is bowling well, using a hint of swing to good effect. He was also rewarded for his effort when he cleaned up Jaiswal. The southpaw struggled to come to terms with movement. Eventually, his back foot didn't load and for the front foot to be on the move. As a result, he had hear the sound of the timber being rattled.
Willey is happy. The RCB camp is happy.
Toss and teams
RCB have won the vital toss and elected to bowl. Can David Willey find a hint of swing upfront? Or for M Siraj to employ his three-quarter seam ball effectively.
The pace duo will be against the in-form Buttler. We could be in for a cracking contest. The point to observe would be Buttler's drive through the extra cover region versus any movement on offer. The grass cover though is much less.
Rajasthan Royals (Playing XI): Jos Buttler, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Devdutt Padikkal, Sanju Samson(w/c), Shimron Hetmyer, Riyan Parag, Ravichandran Ashwin, Navdeep Saini, Trent Boult, Prasidh Krishna, Yuzvendra Chahal
Royal Challengers Bangalore (Playing XI): Faf du Plessis(c), Anuj Rawat, Virat Kohli, Dinesh Karthik(w), Sherfane Rutherford, Shahbaz Ahmed, Wanindu Hasaranga, David Willey, Harshal Patel, Akash Deep, Mohammed Siraj
Sanju Samson: Not too disappointed (at losing the toss). It looks like a completely different surface to the ones we played in the last few games. Our standards in our bowling and batting. We should all take care of our own roles and try to win the small moments. Same team.
Faf du Plessis: We'll have a bowl. Just the trend and with the dew effect. The pitch does look very different, so we'll have to see what the dew does. The fact that pleases me is that we hung in in the last game. It gives a lot of confidence to the group. Even though you aren't playing at your best, it is pleasing. We're playing the same team.
Pitch report | Matthew Hayden: This pitch definitely has a lot lesser grass on it. It is very, very hard. It isn't something we have seen with the pitches here so far. The batsmen are in for a little bit of a treat today. Expect a score of over 160.
Prelude:
RCB have notched up one win out of two while RR are sitting pretty on the points table with two victories out of two.
RR's think tank will hope for the likes of Jos Buttler, Sanju Samson, Prasidh Krishna and Yuzvendra Chahal to put up game-changing performances.
Meanwhile, Faf du Plessis, Wanindu Hasaranga, Dinesh Karthik and Virat Kohli have been in fine form the Bangalore franchise. Who will come out on top in this highly-anticipated game? Toss and teams in a few minutes.
The humidity is on the higher side today in Mumbai - 78 per cent. Hopefully, the dew will stay away.
