Hardik-inspired GT win their fourth game

Parag lost his wicket to Ferguson while Hardik and Dayal combined to make it nine down. RR fell short by 37, ending up with a disappointing 155. Hardik surely has been the soul of GT's effort. His 87 helped the side to recover from 53 for 3. He then also effected a run out. Manohar and Miller too played their parts.

GT are perched at the top of the table with four wins. The only area of concern for GT is Hardik seemed to have picked up a niggle at the fag end of the game.

Drop catch and then a wicket

Yash Dayal dismissed Van der Dussen with a nice away-angling delivery. His roller-coaster ride in this game continues. Hetmyer then tried to press the accelerator by tonking Shami for a few shots. Even though he could have been dismissed in that over but Pandya couldn't hold on to a catch at mid off. Just that it didn't cost them much as the very next ball, Hetmyer holed out to the fielder at long-on. Pandya must be a relieved man.

Now, Samson has been run out on the back of a rocket throw from Hardik. Hardik Pandya seems to be soul of this GT side. He is here. He is there. He is everywhere in IPL 2022.

Ferguson picks the vital wicket!

Buttler continued to play with bravado as he smacked Yash Dayal for three boundaries and a six. He makes hitting look easy. On the other hand, not the best of starts for Yash Dayal in the IPL. This experience will only make him better.

Ferguson soon removed R Ashwin, with the batter cracking one to covers where Miller plucked a sharp catch. Ferguson then bagged the all-important wicket of Buttler, with the explosive batter being deceived by the leg-cutter.

Pitch Report | Matthew Hayden: "This isn't a new wicket, it's been used once before. It is smack bang in the middle of this beautiful stadium. One side's 73m, the other is 70m - the dimensions are very similar. It's not a huge ground as well. The pitch is an absolute beauty. It's got a fairly strong bit of grass in and around the hard lengths that the bowlers love to bowl on. It's very hard, it's got a little sheen to it and don't expect to be any different other than a lot of runs that are piled on tonight. 120 sixes have been scored at this ground in just eight games, that's extraordinary. 46% of the sixes have been downtown. This wicket is very good, it's got true, even pace. The quicks and the spinners got to be around those stumps, otherwise they are going to go the journey. Expect a lot of runs tonight, I think this is going to be a cracking game."
