That, then, is a wrap of India's tour of England. Up next is 'The Hundred' competition which is just round the corner and this English side would be hoping to trace the missing pieces in their ODI side. India, on the other hand, will gear up for their biggest challenge as they host Australia for a 3-match ODI series less than 2 months from now. At the moment, Australia and India appear to be the firm favourites to make it to the final of the World Cup. We will wait and see how the other teams fare up in the meantime. Plenty of time left and we have helluva cricket coming up before that. Do remember to tune into this space for all the latest in cricket. Until next time, cheers from the trio of Raju Peethala, Saurabh Shankar and Praveen Kumar. Feet up!!

As for India, they have ticked most boxes on this tour. On top of the list would be Harmanpreet getting back to form and although a bit late, the Indian skipper managed to notch up her first 50-plus score in 2025 today. Jemimah's improved consistency and Richa's range hitting would have definitely impressed the management. The fact that they outfielded England the entire series should be the cherry on top. Amanjot Kaur, Shree Charani and Kranti Gaud have all proven that they belong to this level. Pratika Rawal may have had an underwhelming series by her own lofty standards, but her record in India combined with her success at the top with Smriti should keep her in good stead. If anything, running between the wickets and finding ways to nudge quick singles during middle overs should be something India can focus on if they are to beat sides like Australia. All in all, India are the deserved winners and will head home with supreme confidence.

If you are an England fan, you would and should be absolutely gutted with how things have gone over the last month or so. They did win 2 T20Is though you might wonder, but all it did was to make the series scoreline appear slightly better. While India (needed 22 off 14 with 7 wickets in hand) gifted the 3rd T20I, England nearly messed up a straightforward chase in Edgbaston, taking it to the final ball and escaping a run-out chance to seal the deal. Imagine if both those games had gone the other way round. So, what exactly do England need to improve on? Bat. Bowl. Field. Fitness and a whole lot of things. The captaincy, too, looked very one dimensional during most parts which is another cause for concern. And with the mega event fast approaching, these are worrying signs for England.

Time to collect the trophy now. Harmanpreet walks past Mark Butcher with a huge grin. Her team-mates are eagerly waiting behind the 'winners' hoarding and here comes the moment. "Yaaaaaaay" they go in unison. Lots of cheers and relieved faces. And after a couple of formal poses, the selfie queen Jemimah pulls out a special picture with the team. Wonderful moments these for some of the young cricketers. The celebrations aren't gonna stop anytime soon by the looks of it...

Harmanpreet Kaur | Indian skipper - Player of the Match and Player of the Series: Great moment for all of us. Happy with the way we played throughout the series. We are giving our best on the field and gelling well as a team. They have been great on and off the field, whenever they get an opportunity, they want to grab it with both hands and I am happy that we are getting to see the results now. Both (Shree Charani and Kranti Goud) of them got good experience in WPL and that is where we thought that if we give them an opportunity, they will do well for the country as well. This series win means a lot to us. Credit goes to our fielding coach (Munish Bali), he has been working really hard. Initially it was frustrating because we were not getting results in the field, but all that training is paying off now. It was a very important match for us and I want to dedicate this knock for my dad, he has been waiting for this kind of knock. I was a little under pressure and wanted to do well for the team and when you work hard the right time will come to deliver. The wicket was good to bat on, and Deepti is someone who will always takes those crucial wickets and everything went to plan, I am really happy. This series was very important preparing ourselves for the World Cup. Before the World Cup, we have 3 ODIs against Australia and we want to do well and continue that momentum into the World Cup.

Amy Jones | England's player of the summer: I’ve loved this series, opening it is about riding the highs and lows. It is a bit different this year, there’s generally a longer summer left. India have been a huge challenge, they have played well throughout. The biggest thing is mindset and looking ahead towards the World Cup. Want to be trusting in my game and keeping the confidence up.

Nat Sciver-Brunt | England skipper: We did really well to stay in the game for that long, the wickets in the end really cost us. Having a set batter would have helped. We were not quite disciplined with the ball in the death. We do work very hard in practice and traning and bringing that to the game is where we are missing a bit. We will continue to work on that. There is energy in the field that would be driven by the senior members of the side, and in general that is something we want to work on in training, as in developing that intensity among players. We have the luxury of loads of all-rounders, the balance of the side is an ongoing conversation. We are trying different things and using five bowlers gives everyone a chance to show what they have got in different situations. They are a world-class side and their fielding has been brilliant as well. Their discipline with the ball has been brilliant. Congratulations to them.

Kranti Gaud 6/52

in England 2025 (ODI 2-1, T20I 3-2)

20:26 local, 00:56 IST: All smiles in the Indian camp, but England didn't let them breathe easy for a major part of the run chase. Having lost both openers inside 3 overs, the hosts looked in all sorts of trouble at the end of powerplay with the score reading 22/2. Whatever was served or said during that first drinks break, it clearly injected some much-needed intent and purpose into the chase. Skipper Sciver-Brunt and Emma Lamb got involved in a mammoth 162-run stand for the third wicket (the highest for England for any wicket against India), with sweep shot being their most productive shot. The pair also ran hard between the wickets to reduce the dot ball percentage and they were in fact well ahead in comparison to India's score for most parts of the middle overs. While India scored 120 in the last 10 overs, England only managed 77. The difference, however, was the absence of a set batter for the England side. Also, the fact that both Lamb and Sciver-Brunt got out in the space of 5 overs only aggravated matters for the home side. How good was Kranti Goud? Let's get to know that and more from the post-match reactions...

Kranti Goud to Bell, out Caught by Kaur!! Slapped straight to extra cover where skipper Harmanpreet, fittingly, takes the catch.
