The carnival at California has ended. But the MLC party now moves to Dallas. The last two games prior to this saw teams batting first doing well but today Monank and Michael Bracewell had other ideas. Yes, they were helped thanks to some shoddy fielding. But Monank executed well and got to 93. Bracewell did well towards the end after surviving his chances. Pollard also chipped in with a cameo. MINY have opened their account. The Orcas still on a blob. We have more games of cricket coming your way. We will be back then. Time to bid bye bye now.
Nic Pooran: Very relieved. Coming here, either of us had to get on the board. But happy to have won. We keep facing the same challenges. We are bowling well in certain areas of the game. The partnership between Monank and Michael Bracewell was crucial. We kept ourselves in the game by not going too hard in the powerplay. Monank has been part of the MINY team. The way he is going about it is pleasing. He has been assessing conditions and playing with the responsibility. Good for USA cricket. So many other guys have been raising their hands and taking the responsibility as well.
Monank Patel: Really happy the way we played. These two points were crucial. We have been watching games in the last two three days. Going too hard in the powerplay hasn't been easy. I wanted to spend some time. I wanted to get set and then play my shots. When there was extra pace, I tried to use it. Everyone has a different template. I want to believe in my template. This is a special ground. Playing an international game would be wonderful.
Heinrich Klaasen: I was very pleased. We batted superbly. Batting game plan paid off. We needed some experience at the back end. It paid off today. 200 was enough. I reckon a couple of balls didn't go to hand and a couple of the balls just went over (The difference in the game). I thought we played a good game of cricket. We are playing better cricket now. Probably needed a seamer, could have been a great option. But easy in hindsight to say that.
21:25 Local Time, 04:25 GMT, 09:55 IST: MINY have opened their account. The Orcas were poor on the field and the dropped chances hurt them really bad. Monank though played a superb knock after initially taking his time. His score of 93 was just what MINY needed in a chase of 201. Michael Bracewell tried his best for a major part of his knock but most of his shots were mistimed. He got a few chances as well. And when Patel got out, Bracewell slammed a few fours and sixes to finish off the chase alongside Pollard. Pooran also had come in but got out after hitting one six. But the Orcas would be gutted with their fielding. They dropped way too many catches and paid the price for it. Monank was allowed to get away after his initial struggles. The bowling post the powerplay also could have been better. The Orcas remain winless and would look to do better in the next game. MINY would be elated with their first win.
Obed McCoy to Pollard, SIX, Game, set, match! 26 off 10 for Pollard and they have finished off the game with an over to spare. MINY pick up their first win and they would be elated. Chasing had been tough in the last two games but MINY on the back of Monank's 93 have managed to chase down 200 with an over to spare
Obed McCoy to Pollard, wide, very full, too wide, left alone and has been wided. Four needed. Pollard will look to finish it off here in this over
Obed McCoy to Michael Bracewell, 1 run, and wrists the ball down to deep mid for a single as the ball angled in. Fifty for Michael Bracewell. He took his time and after the fall of Patel has managed to break free from the rut of dot balls
Obed McCoy to Michael Bracewell, SIX, only a shot away now! Back of a length delivery, angled in, Michael Bracewell stays back and pulls it over deep mid for a sixer. Handsome blow from the Kiwi. 6 needed off 8 balls now. He has moved to 49
Obed McCoy to Pollard, 1 run, walks across and nudges the ball down to deep backward square for a single
Obed McCoy to Pollard, FOUR, poor length delivery, on the pads, Pollard walks across and nudges the ball down to fine leg for a four. The Orcas and their camp looks so stunned and deflated. Their faces says it all
Obed McCoy to Pollard, FOUR, top-edge and Harmeet again there. He completely lost it in the night sky. The ball seems to be following Harmeet. That was a short of length delivery, Pollard looked to heave it away and got it off the top-edge over shord third man. Harmeet kept circling under it near the third man fence but never even got a hand to it
Obed McCoy [3.0-0-25-0] is back into the attack
Mayers to Michael Bracewell, FOUR, Harmeet lets it slip through his legs. Poor from the fielder. That was fuller, outside off, Michael Bracewell digs it out down to short third man who lets it slip through him. Huge over for Michael Bracewell and for his side
The bowler loses his run-up. Last ball of the over.
Mayers to Pollard, 1 run, very full, outside off, patted down into the off-side for a single. 25 needed off 13 balls
Mayers to Michael Bracewell, 1 run, fuller length delivery, whacked down to deep mid as he tried to hit that hard. They get a single
Mayers to Michael Bracewell, SIX, and six more. Short ball, gets on top of the ball and pulls it over deep square now. Got hold of the delivery and put it away with elan. He is finally getting into his elements. 27 needed off 15 balls now
Mayers to Michael Bracewell, SIX, much needed! Was a length delivery, kept low. Michael Bracewell got under it and slammed it over deep mid. That was hit flat but well over
Mayers to Pollard, 1 run, angled in on a length, turned down to long-on for a single
