So a first win in Texas for the Texas Super Kings in MLC 2025. A much better performance from them today with bat and ball. LAKR have now lost four games already, and they'll need to pick themselves up quickly. We'll see how the MLC proceeds, but that's all for now, see you later!
Faf du Plessis: (On losing too many tosses) Any tips? I have tried everything. (On the plan today) This wicket wasn't the same as the first two games, we felt 180 was a good score. Well done to the two boys at the back end to get us to an above par score. The game has moved quickly, we batted really well in the previous game to score 220 runs. The nature of the pitch makes it feel like 200 is a par score here, but today 180 was good. (On the positives) The pleasing thing is that the local boys have come to the party. We feel confident from a batting perspective. Akeal Hosein was magic today, it was brilliant to see him operate in the powerplay. We were good in the previous game as well apart from a few dropped catches, but it only counts if you win.
Donovan Ferreira | Player of the Match: The wicket didn't look as good as the previous day, it was a bit slower. We knew we had to bat deep and take it on when we felt right. I got the pace of the wicket, faced 10 balls and gave myself that opportunity, and things kind of just clicked. (On his favourite six) That one off Shadley was nice, the bat felt in sync after playing that. Went off the middle off the bat.
Jason Holder: We lost early wickets in the powerplay, never got going and had too much to do at the back end. We need to be a bit smarter, need that momentum towards the top and strike partnerships. We were poor with the back end as well with the ball, need to execute better. The plans are there, we need to execute. The energy this afternoon was great, there are small things we need to control in terms of our bowling and batting.
22:47 Local Time, 03:47 GMT, 09:17 IST: The Texas Super Kings bowlers turned up today and their side have picked up a convincing win. After failing to defend 199 and 221, today their bowlers put in a much more disciplined performance. The tone was set by Akeal Hosein, who struck twice in the powerplay and curbed the flow of runs. Unmukt Chand was a bit too slow to get going, and so was Saif Badar, making things tough for themselves. Both batters got starts but couldn't consolidate their innings, as LAKR were always behind the asking rate. The chasing side got some cameos from Powell and Holder to reduce the margin of defeat, but never threatened this target. Noor Ahmad had a much better return today as he picked 2/27, while most of the other bowlers also contributed. Earlier in the day, Shubham Ranjane got his first MLC fifty to ensure his side had an above par score. Stick around for the presentations.
