SL 232 (48.5)

PLAYER OF THE MATCH
Tanvir Islam

Sri Lanka will be disappointed to not cross the line after the start Kusal Mendis gave them, but credit to Bangladesh for using the conditions really well. Don't forget Shamim's special contribution. He looked like getting a wicket every over and he was even putting pressure on the right-handers with his accuracy and trajectory. This rivalry gave us a humdinger tonight. The series is square 1-1 and the decider will be played in Pallekele. Different ground, different challenge. Join us on the journey again on Tuesday. Take care!

Mehidy Hasan Miraz: 240 was difficult to bat on in the second innings. We believed we can defend 248. They played really well and we needed wickets at that moment. I told Tanvir that we need wickets and I just tried to tell positive things to the bowler because we needed wickets. Otherwise we can't win.

Charith Asalanka: I feel not that much (if the toss played a crucial role). Because I think the bowlers did a great job after they got a good start. Restricting them under 250, we can't ask for more. Kusal Mendis's wicket was the key but those things can happen. After that myself and Kamindu couldn't capitalize. Once you get a start like that (powerplay with the bat in the chase) you can't complain about the pitch. We want to regroup again and start afresh.

Tanvir Islam | 5/39 | PoTM: Felt really well and bowled in the right areas, was a better wicket than the last game. Grateful to the captain who gave him confidence before the game. He said try to take wicket and not just look to contain. (Translated from Bangla)

22:20 Local Time, 16:50 GMT, 22:20 IST: So Bangladesh force this into a decider on Tuesday. They were quite smart. With the bat towards the end and then with the ball for a good part of the second innings. 240-250 was always a tricky total here on these pitches. Credit to Emon, Hridoy for their important knocks but it was Tanzim the bowler who made a great contribution of 33 from just 21 balls to get this close to 250. He then knocked over Nissanka early but Kusal Mendis took the visitors by storm with a 20-ball fifty. Sri Lanka looked to be cruising until Tanvir weaved his web around the SL batters outside the powerplay. The hosts looked down and out at 156/7 but a determined Liyanage played one of the best knocks of his career. He had Chameera for company and the duo kept chipping away at the target but when 21 runs were needed off 17 balls he made an unforced error thanks to Fizz and Bangladesh sealed the deal with Tanzim cleaning up Chameera.

48.5

Tanzim Hasan Sakib to Chameera, out Bowled!! Dropped the catch previous ball? No, problem! I'll knock the off stump out next ball! Full and fast, Chameera swings hard and connects only with thin air, off stump flies out of the pitch. Bangladesh record their first ODI win at the RPS. Chameera b Tanzim Hasan Sakib 13(31) [4s-1]

Tanzim Hasan Sakib to Chameera, THATS OUT!! Bowled!!

48.4

Tanzim Hasan Sakib to Asitha Fernando, 1 run, this is high, bowlers call for it himself, dropped. Lovely slower delivery, Fernando slogs early and toe-ends it high towards mid-wicket. Tanzim ran to the right, got both hands to it but couldn't cling on

48.3

Tanzim Hasan Sakib to Asitha Fernando, no run, beaten! Short of a length delivery, Fernando backs away and looks to slash, misses. Tanzim Hasan Sakib says he heard something. He convinces Jaker and eventually the captain as well. Bangladesh review. UltraEdge stays flat so just waste of time. No reviews left for the visitors

48.2

Tanzim Hasan Sakib to Asitha Fernando, no run, swing and a miss! Slower delivery outside off stump, Fernando looks to hit leg-side but makes no contact

48.1

Tanzim Hasan Sakib to Chameera, 1 run, slower delivery outside off stump, Chameera drills it down to long-off and he takes a run first ball

Two overs to go, 19 needed, 1 wicket in hand. Too much for Chameera to handle? Advantage Bangladesh as of now!

47.6

Mustafizur to Asitha Fernando, 2 runs, another low full toss as Mustafizur fails to nail the slower ball, dragged to deep mid-wicket and they get two

47.5

Mustafizur to Asitha Fernando, no run, dipping slower ball low full toss as he tried the yorker, flicked to wide mid-on and Chameera denies the single

47.4

Mustafizur to Asitha Fernando, no run, beaten! Short of a length delivery angling away, Fernando looks to guide it to the off-side and misses

47.3

Mustafizur to Asitha Fernando, no run, full delivery, Fernando defends

Asitha Fernando, right handed bat, comes to the crease

47.2

Mustafizur to Janith Liyanage, out Caught&Bowled!! Nooo, surely didn't try to jinx! He's out to a soft, soft dismissal and Bangladesh believe again. Liyanage was staying back to flick this short slower ball in the gap at mid-wicket to pinch two. Instead he's leading-edged this back to the bowler for an easy return catch. He takes the helmet off and walks off in disbelief. At 156/7 Sri Lanka had minimal chance. But Liyanage dug deep, absorbed pressure, put it back on the bowlers and just when he saw the line he fumbled. Must be gutted! Janith Liyanage c and b Mustafizur 78(85) [4s-7 6s-2]

Mustafizur to Janith Liyanage, THATS OUT!! Caught&Bowled!!

47.1

Mustafizur to Janith Liyanage, SIX, Liyanage you beauty! What calculated risks he's taken today to get his side this close. Full and outside off stump, Liyanage smacks down the ground and clears the ropes
