After a frenetic second day, the third day meandered along almost as if it was a rest day. That is merely in terms of the run-rate though. The bigger picture was of course of South Africa trying to resurrect their flailing batting department. Amla led the vigil with a marathon knock and remained unbeaten throughout the day. de Villiers and du Plessis contributed with useful half-centuries and remained patient enough to ensure that South Africa inched closer towards safety.
