Three down

After surviving quite a few scars, Imrul was castled by Raza. The left-handed batsman went for the sweep but was too far across when he played it. It took the glove and smashed into the leg stump. Meanwhile, Raza was ecstatic. Key wicket for Zimbabwe.

Reward for perseverance

Finally, Jarvis, at the brink of drinks break, got his reward. The Zimbabwe pacer was impressive through the course of the first hour but was unlucky. However, he pegged away and forced Mominul to edge one onto the stumps. Perseverance. Mental toughness.

Raza makes crucial incision

Eventually, Raza broke the threatening stand. Liton was the batsman dismissed. The opener tried to pull on a wicket that is mostly keeping low and was struck in front of the stumps. Initially, not given but Masakadza took a brave decision to go for the review. And the Hawkeye suggested three reds; the on field umpire had to overturn his decision. Relief for Zimbabwe.

Another dropped chance

Zimbabwe continue to put down chances. Hamilton Masakadza dropped Imurl in the slip cordon. It wasn't an easy chance as Imrul threw the kitchen sick at his attempted cut shot, but the visitors need to take these kind of opportunities to win a Test.

Imrul continued to live on the edge as Jarvis in his very next over tempted the opener to flash at one outside off only for it bounce before the diving Taylor in slips. To add insult to injury, it scurried to the third man fence. Excellent stuff from Jarvis who has probed away by extracting seam and generating swing.

Das, Imurl in good nick

In the first 15 minutes of a tense Day 4, we saw Raza extract some turn and extra bounce to trouble the left-handed Kayes. However, Bangladesh's openers - Das and Imrul - showcased the required batting aptitude. The duo pinched singles wherever possible to keep the scorecard ticking over.

For the visiting side, Chari dropped a tough chance off Das. Raza was the unlucky bowler. These are the kind of chances that either stick or don't.

Build Up:

295 more runs to score. 10 wickets to get. The equation for the either side is simple and straightforward. The first Test between Bangladesh and Zimbabwe has the potential to turn into a cliffhanger.

Zimbabwe have the advantage of bowling last on a wearing wicket. However, on a slightly positive note for Bangladesh, the cracks haven't opened up as much as many expected it to. The hosts also would be pleased that they didn't lose a single wicket in the final session on Day 3.

The Zimbabwe think-tank would hope that the able duo of Jarvis and Chatara will bowl with the kind of penetration and control that the pair displayed in the first innings. The spinners also have a role to play on the penultimate day. Meanwhile, Liton Das and Imrul Kayes will aim to lay a good platform for the middle order to come into play.

Earlier, on Day 3, Taijul Islam starred foe Bangladesh, bagging his maiden 10-wicket haul in a Test to give the home team a window of opportunity to script a famous victory.

With bad light playing spoilsport, play on Day 4 will start 15 minutes early.
