Woakes to Jaiswal, no run

Jaiswal and Rahul are at the crease. Jaiswal is on strike. Woakes will open the attack

The England players take their positions. Woakes has the new ball in his hands. KL and Jaiswal ready with their willows. Three slips and a gully to start us off

Teams line up for the anthems. India's Jana Gana Mana is followed by God Save the King.

sadananda sahoo: India cannot change their mindset. Why Shardul Thakur. If you want a bowler take a bowler or if needs a Batsman take a batsman.

ShehanK: "Both Anil Kumble and Anshul Kamboj making their debut on Same ground and having same initials AK" -- And they both have a 10-wicket haul in first-class cricket.

Pavan: "India has not won a test match here and no team has won a Test here after opting to bowl, ever. One of the stat will perish after this match. Interesting match to watch" -- It's like the draw doesn't exist anymore.

DYK: The last time India won a toss in the Men's internationals was in January in a T20I match against England in Rajkot. Since then, they have lost 14 consecutive tosses.

Longest gaps between Test appearances
142 - Gareth Batty (ENG)
118 - Jaydev Unadkat (IND)
114 - Martin Bicknell (ENG)
109 - Floyd Reifer (WI)
104 - Younis Ahmed (PAK)
103 - Derek Shackleton (ENG)
102 - Liam Dawson (ENG)**

India has not won a Test match in Manchester on nine previous occasions. Whereas England has lost just 2 out of 20 Tests (14 won, 4 draws) at Old Trafford in this century.

England has won all four tosses in this Test series. No team winning the toss and bowling first has ever won an Old Trafford Test previously (3 lost, 8 draws).

In 1990, Anil Kumble was the last Indian to make his Test debut in Manchester. coincidentally, both Anil Kumble & Anshul Kamboj have a 10-wicket haul in FC Cricket.

All four tosses have gone England's way in this series, although Gill didn't seem to mind today as he was unsure about what to do. Interesting that India have decided to make the switch between Karun Nair and Sai Sudharsan. They both played at Leeds, Sudharsan was then left out, and he's now back in after Karun wasn't able to go big in the three Tests he played.

Teams:

India (Playing XI): Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Sai Sudharsan, Shubman Gill(c), Rishabh Pant(w), Ravindra Jadeja, Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur, Anshul Kamboj, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj

England (Playing XI): Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Harry Brook, Ben Stokes(c), Jamie Smith(w), Liam Dawson, Chris Woakes, Brydon Carse, Jofra Archer

Shubman Gill: I was actually confused. Good toss to lose. The way we've played in the last three Tests has been outstanding. Some crunch moments we've lost, but we've won more sessions than them. You need a bit of a break. All three Tests were intense. Looks like a good surface. Nice and hard. There's some forecast around for the four-five days. Three changes: Sai Sudharsan comes in place of Karun. Kamboj and Shardul are in as well for Akash Deep and Reddy who are injured.

Ben Stokes: We're going to have a bowl. Decent overhead conditions for bowling. We've had a good break in between. Good chance for everyone to head back home and get the batteries recharged. Everyone left everything out on the field at Lord's. We've had three games go down to the final session, which says a lot about the quality of the teams. Typical Manchester wicket. Quite firm. Some grass. Dawson back in the team - long time since the last Test but he's gone well over the years.

England have won the toss and have opted to field

Pitch report | Michael Atherton: Four championship games and all four have been drawn. Hard to force a result. Groundsman has left grass on the surface. That combined with the overcast conditions, captains may want to bowl first. However, no team has won a Test here after opting to bowl, ever.

10.12am local, 2.42pm IST: "Cap presentation has just happened. Kamboj time!" Kaushik confirms. "Also see Sai in the gully. So that's the other change." Kamboj, a 24-year old seamer from Haryana, played the two unofficial Tests against England Lions as part of the India A squad before this series. What a big day for him.

Clues from warmups: "Seeing Prasidh bowling quite a bit on the side wicket. But it looks like Anshul Kamboj just marked his runup but it's at the other end. So my view is obstructed. Can tell for sure that Shardul Thakur is marking his runup," says Kaushik.

9.55am local, 2.25pm IST: Our correspondent Kaushik Rangarajan greets us with some good news from Old Trafford. "Good morning from Old Trafford. It's hazy and cool but it's not raining. Which means it's a great summers day in Manchester." Peak summer.
