Profile
One of the many players from Bangladesh's U19 World Cup winning squad in 2020 to go on and play at the senior level, Shamim Hossain made his international debut in the T20I series against Zimbabwe in 2021. And he was immediately in the spotlight, playing eye-catching cameos as a finisher with both matches going down to the wire.

The left-handed batting allrounder however, couldn't sustain that early spark for too long. He returned with single-digit scores in the following series against Australia, failed in the T20 World Cup later that year, and was hastily left out of the team, not featuring in a single international in 2022.

Strong performances in the BPL earned him a comeback in 2023 and he marked his return with his maiden international fifty against Ireland. He even made his ODI debut a few months later against Afghanistan. But the selectors weren't convinced with what they saw, leaving him out of the squad for close to a year. He missed the T20 World Cup in 2024 before being called back for the T20I series in West Indies where he played a couple of impactful knocks. A couple of months later, he had his best season yet at the BPL, scoring 352 runs at a strike rate of 160 as Chittagong Kings made it to the final.
